Spam Protector 2003 creates a POP3 gateway between your e-mail client and your real POP3 server, performing all the work on cleaning your mailboxes from spam mail. You won't even know that you get spam letters, cause they will be deleted automatically right from your POP3 server! Works safe and fast to keep you away from spam letters!

Go to http://www.babkin.net/ to download demo version!

P.S. If you're interested - you can test it... All serious bug reports may be appreciated

PC side... It makes a shield between mail client and POP3 server, deleting all spam messages... In case of correct cofiguration gives very good effect... even perfect

Well, for example it can cut banners from message bodies using Perl-compatible regular expressions... You can make entrusted and prohibited sender lists entering masks (e.g. @hotmail.com), makin program search for that mask in either address or subject or whole header or combination of them. There is flexible configuration for performing many tasks, including automatic mail-checking, automatic confirmation request sending (sender must reply on it to prove he is a human ) and much more. Of course, it's not too hard to do, but it takes time on developing, programming, documenting and debugging, so... Try it

The guy who wrote SpamKiller, which is also run client side, sold it to McAffee last year. Do you know how much money he got? I always wondered if they ripped him off or if he got rich off the deal.

They also bought SpamAssasin, right?

Forget selling the product to consumers, you just need to sell out to McAfee.

But the fact that it runs client side means that it has to use your dialup/DSL bandwidth to do all of this, right? Do you also have to keep some program running in the background on your PC all the time? The main reason I like server based solutions is because you don't have to compromise your PC's CPU, memory, and bandwidth to deal with spam.

There is a big market for what you are selling, it's just better for high volume users to go with server side solutions, in my opinion.

Well let me show you that client side is not a disadvantage in my case - program is running a gateway taking less than 900K of memory + database (even the big one won't take more than 10Mb), and it deletes all the spam mail RIGHT FROM THE SERVER, not downloading it. It downloads and gives to your mail client ONLY entrusted letters from database you make yourself. So almost no bandwidth is taken. One mail checking via POP3 protocol never takes more than a kilobyte, so it's not serius to take it as a "traffic" or "bandwidth"

Btw, I'm planning to make a POP3 server with this tool's engine included

Only saving and loading to/from user-defined files is blocked, and address and account number is limited (10 and 3 respectively). But database is saved and loaded perfectly to/from program-defined files on start/end. So all the functionality is available - more than enough to try and assess all of the features, especially knowing, that saving and loading to user-defined files can be used for backup reasons only.

Spamming anti-spam software would cause me to ignore it....
Besides I use this : SPAMPAL

which is FREE and has a current user base of around 43000.

It uses a user selectable combination of block lists and filters(Regex or Baysian) and integrates nicely into Outlook Express. The guy who wrote it is very active in the anti-spam community and does not have to SPAM get users.

I've used it since November and hardly any SPAM sneaks through.

Because you create denied sender list yourself, and program deletes messages only if they're from someone from that list, and nothing else...
