Thats my biggest fear in life. To die in a plane crash, drowning or in fire. I think I rather die by a bullet instead of getting stabbed.

"At least 200 passengers are feared dead after they were sucked out of a plane at 7,000 feet when a door opened. "

FEARED dead? That would be my guess..

"The pilot managed to land the plane but none of the passengers who had boarded were left."

The worst deaths I could think of:
suffocation
burning alive
hypothermia

I believe that if you're sucked out of a plane you either suffocate or freeze to death. Not my #1 way to go either.

Yea...I thought the same thing. How terrifying would that shit be? How long would it take to drop to the ground from 7000 feet?

Feared dead cause the gov't of Congo denied anyone was hurt immediatly after it happened...

Maybe they were all wearing parachutes and hit the 9 button on their keyboards... oh wait I've been playing too much Battlefield 1942 lately....

The world record for furthers fall without dying is some stewardess who fell over 30,000 feet into a snow drift after her plane broke apart -- she broke several bones and spent a while in a coma, but she lived.

No idea how high is 7000feet, I assume it's not high enough for my post to be accurate though.

The effects of hypoxia dont start untill 11,000 feet above sea level in the majority of people. And the effects are mild up till 14,000 feet. but the report doesnt say in the plane was 7000 feet above sea level, or 7000 feet above ground level.

most likely only the first few made it out alive

I would assume the rest of them were knocked out, dismembered, or killed by going thru seat belts, or hitting each other or the frame of the door on the way out

did the report say if the seats were gone to?

Not at 7,000 feet...you're talking maybe 10 degrees cooler up there, possibly 15.

They all probably died by impact with the ground, if not head injuries on the way out of the plane (I'd imagine it's not a clean exit when 200 people and chairs are being sucked through a 3" door).

Officials at the Kinshasa airport said 129 people fell to their deaths after being blown out of the plane. There are reports that nine people survived and are being treated for minor injuries and psychological trauma.

CNN Says:

"There were about 200 people on board, soldiers and their families, women and children," Prudent Mukalayi, one of the survivors taken to a Kinshasa hospital, told Reuters.

"I was asleep and then I heard people screaming. When I woke up the pilot told everyone to get to the front of the plane and there were about 40 of us, but people kept dying... There were only about 20 survivors."

There was no immediate confirmation on the number of passengers on board the plane, nor how many had survived the accident.

I wonder if they bounced? The other article states that only the pilot was on board when it landed.

though i ain't no expert but if people survived sucking out of the plane that most of them would of passed out then died from impact,, rather than being awake till they hit the ground

Imagine getting sucked out of a plane and seeing 128 other people falling to the earth along side you!

I imagine it would take a while to hit the ground.

They'd be looking at each other freefalling the whole way down...

"AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!"

"AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

and so forth.

I imagine if they were conscious, it would be such a long freefall that they would get tired of screaming before they hit the ground.

7,000 feet? I jumped ou of a plane at 10,000 feet and fell 5,000 feet in 30 seconds (as you should...) ... There's not enough air at 30,000+ feet .. Still shitty way to go..

Cheers,
Matt

If any1 survived , it had to be some1 in the plane that didnt get sucked out. I doubt anyone survived a 7k drop. People have enuff hard of time living from a 3 o4 4 story fall. Even if articles say only the pilot landed, they may be wrong. WHo knows what happened really, how many, this and that, lots of conflicting reports.

The plane had been chartered by the Congolese army to fly from Kinshasa to Lubumbashi, Congo's second biggest city which is home to a large military base.
Yeah.. i'm sure nobody had an interest in killing a plane full of Congolese army men..

It's incredible I use good punctuation skills and complete sentences all the time when other people of this board are WAY worse. Yet you still bitch and moan about one little mistake I made.
Obviously you're a foreigner thats just jealous of Americans and try to find any tiny flaws in an Americans posting to bitch about to make yourself feel good in your poor 3rd world nation. Was that sentence too long?

Obviously you're a foreigner thats just jealous of Americans and try to find any tiny flaws in an Americans posting to bitch about to make yourself feel good in your poor 3rd world nation. Was that sentence too long?
American born and bred. Living in England now but as the language is meant to be the same I saw a valid point in bitching about your improper use. Anyway, it wasn't a bitch about you personally, it was a bitch about Americans in general who don't seem to retain anything they learned about spelling and grammar while at school. This is why I said 'When will PEOPLE learn', not 'When will Jim Manly learn'.

And yes, it was a run on sentence but I can be just as guilty of those as anyone else.

BTW, is it that important to you that you 'win'? If so, I willingly concede. Nothing worse than a sore loser.

Thanks for pointing my mistake out, it won't happen again. Even though I already know about "must have" and I always use it, I have forgotten it this time. PLEASE forgive me.
I was an above average student in English, and your correction offended me so I struck back. Now end this childish rambling that I started so I can get back to work.
I was joking about "I win'. It's not important at all.

GOD dammit I feel like a nerd. Just like you.

Ill certainly pass on this type of death, especially since I like sleeping on the plane, hate flying. Not to mention my wife can be nice and quite, wake me up on the couch in a peacfull manor, and I jump as if someone has a riffle over me, couldnt imagine being woken up by getting whacked in the back of the head by the guy who was sitting behind me.
