Just to clarify, there are numerous other reasons to buy expired domains. PR is not the only reason, nor the best reason.

This is exactly why I ignored every "stop buying domains because google will punish them" thread and started picking them up. I started making money the day my first one propogated and I plan to buy thousands more.

DON'T BUY EXPIRED DOMAINS! GOOGLE WILL KILL YOU!

I resell a lot of the expired domains I pick up.. I'm not really that hardnosed at negotiating.. and my average price would in the vicinity of about $200..

I know some people are a lot more aggressive and won't accept bids less than $1500.. which I've wondered is to correlate nicely with the cost of going to WIPO..

Anyone willing to share approach on reselling expired domains? I mean obviously there are a lot of factors to decide upon, but within that there is a strategy.. like starting very high? or asking for them to offer? It's a game in itself.

sacX there are a number of domain brokers who list domains and what people are asking. look around and compare. It is really a matter of just how good the domain is. Some really odd domains you would never think would be worth shit sell for thousands because it just happened to fit someone.

There is no question that Google will troll to keep their DB clean, but again...if you are able to nab them prior to a re-index...you are good.

Google needs relevant domains, and you must get some relevant conetnt on it asap with its own unique IP. Give it every chance in the world to the spider as seemingly just having moved on the server , an IP change and/or a facelift.

But keep it relevant.

Nothing wrong with refering to Wayback (archives) to see what it used to look like. In fact, analyze the KW densities of that old page and get in the ball park.

Make sense?

I don't think the relevancy is as imporant but it makes a lot of sense to do it anyway. Less chance of being reported by an observer which is likely how many of them get cleaned up. I don't think a unique IP is important at all. Most of my own share IPs and have not been affected to date. The whole density issue doesn't have as much affect as any other factor in my opinion.

Google is getting way too much power, thinking they
own the Internet (they do for now)...

Just as Yahoo and Altavista "owned" the net in terms of providing traffic a few years back. Someone better WILL come along and steal the throne in terms of driving SE traffic. Just be patient :)

You've gotta be kidding...

Shoot me in the head if thats the future.
Nice dynamic search they had, used to be they'd carry the search query...so if you search for naked dead person sex...they would have a spot in the upper left hand corner that said:

"Live Cams of Naked Dead Person Sex"

I mean for real! I hope thats not the future!
