Digital Camera Recommendations

Looking for something along the range of $250-$400. Probably about 3 megapixels or so. Which companies do you guys recommend, and specifically...which model numbers? Also what features should I be going for, and disregarding?

Any links for online info would be great.

Kodak DX4330

I don't know if the link will work, but it takes two secs to find on Kodak. I just paid $400 cdn for it and I love it.

It's 3.1 megapixels, with 10x zoom (3x optical, 3.3x digital). Several different shooting modes, 1.8" outdoor/indoor LCD, auto-picture rotation (take a pic sideways and it rotates ir for you) and contiuous MPG video with sound.

comes with 16 mb internal memory and supports MMC and SD cards.

i love it.

Another feature I'm looking for is instant pictures. I know my dad has some Olympus camera (3.3 Megapixel) and it literally takes a full 2 seconds for the picture to take.

I'd like to be able to get shots within a half second or less (I see a car while driving and I can just click it). The delay drives me absolutely insane. Is there a certain term for this latency I should look for under specs?

It's called shutter-lag.
Here's a review from Steve's Digicams about Kodak's DX4330
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/dx4330.html

Quote:
As with most all consumer digital cameras there is a "shutter lag" - this is the time from pressing the shutter to actual capture. Only film cameras are close to instantaneous, digicams have a delay in which the camera sets the autofocus, exposure value and white balance before capturing the shot. The DX4330 is about average with a nominal one second shutter lag.

totally different. shutter speed is the amount of time the shutter is open for while taking the picture. it increases the exposure of the picture... for example, if you're taking a picture of something in motion, the longer the shutter is open, the more blurred the photo will be
