In the spring of 2004 (not sure exactly when) smoking will be banned in all bars, clubs, restaurants etc in Norway. As the first country in the world. I have no plans on quitting though.

You Think? It is banned a lot of places here in Arizona but I am still having a hard time quiting. Probally because I really do not want to, But at these prices, who can afford to smoke anymore.

You know, I would not mind paying the extra tax if the money was going to what is was meant for and not in some politicians pocket.

Hey, we all have our vices... How many of you drink alcohol? I am not a drinker.. so I can say the same....drinking is for the weak.

Plus, alcohol kills more people a year than second hand smoke does. Hello?

and another thing... everyone talks about second hand smoke... what about second hand drinking.

When a family (non-drinkers) are killed by a drunk driver.

I think that is a bit more serious and common than someone dying from second hand smoke.

Wake Up!

No you wouldnt! You should try a stop smoking aid that has no nicotine. Smoke Away worked for me!

How anyone can smoke and put all those poisons and toxins into your body permanently is beyond me.

One of the worst habits in the world and absolutely deadly.

Addiction sucks... I always see these people on TV whining about how the tobacco companies hid the bad effects of smoking and that they want money because of it.. fuck that.

I know it's bad, I've known it was bad forever (knew when I started even) -- but I was a stupid kid at the time and didn't care... it's not like us smokers are naive -- most of us KNOW what it does to us, but it's an addiction stronger than heroin or coke... needless to say, a VERY hard one to break.

Some day we will (at least I didn't say "I don't have a problem" lol).... one of the advantages I have is that it's both my wife and I... we'll both agree to quit at the same time, which kind of helps (that whole 'buddy system' thing)... of course, it means 2 mean bastards under the same roof at the same time too lol...

Tried the nicotrol inhaler last time... thought it was going to kill me WAY faster then smoking... anyone ever try taking a hit off one of those? Pure PAIN lol.... so I switched to the patch... fell asleep with one on the one day and ended up having one of the stangest dreams I've ever had -- bad enough that it took me a good 5 minutes to come back into sync with reality when I woke up in a cold sweat -- never done drugs in my life that even remotely compared to that shit (which just proves how bad nicotine really is).

Anyway, some day... hopefully sooner than later... just need to actually set a date for it and stay focused.

LOL, a buddy of mine who'd chain-smoked for 30 years took up knitting to occupy his hands when he stopped. Took him quite a few jerseys and baby-blankets, but he finally kicked the habit.

Do I smoke?
Like a stack of burning bodies!!

Go down to your local tobacco shop (trust me, you've got one somewhere selling pipes and cigars) and check out the fresh canned tobacco they've got. All natural, just roll it up in a paper and smoke it. Tastes *fantastic* and beats any brand cigarette to all hell. You can even get little filters and roll them up in the paper too if you like. There's little hand-rolling machine, ones that do it automatically for you, ones that do a bunch of cigs at a time... or you can just roll them by hand. Hell there's even pre-made tubes you can buy, and you use a little machine to stuff the tobacco into them.
Way cheaper than a carton of cigarettes, too. A carton here in Virginny is about $27-$30. I get *more* than a carton out of a can of tobacco (about $10-$12) and a carton of tubes here is about $3.50.
Look around on the internet and you'll find prices way lower than those, as well as flavored tobaccos... the vanilla tobacco is sooooo smooth and sweet...

Yep, I roll my own as well, here in Holland it's quite common. Ready-made cigarettes make me cough, they contain too many chemicals.

Two of my friends tried hypnosis. Both quit and have never smoked again. Might try that myself.
Would never even considder patches/chewing gum etc. A lot of those I know who did that got addicted to that instead.

Tips to quit smoking:
1. Get a hobby (hey porn works do it!)
2. Excercise. It wears you out and gets you to sleep at night.
3. Drink lots of water it cleans your body out over time. I mean SERIOUS consumption of water every 5 to 10 minutes drink 8 ounces. Piss like a mother fucker but who cares.
4. Take vitamins and detoxification pills like Golden Seel. Helps clean nicotine out of your body.

The 3 and 4 tips are related to cleaning your body of the nicotine. The faster you do this the faster you get rid of the nicotine thus having little to no withdrawal symptoms (so you wont be a bastard)

It works.
