Making Nice With The Eye R' Es...
Anyone ever had to clean up several years of non-filing
and other naughtiness with the IRS? How did you go about doing it? Did you hire a tax attorney or just an accountant? Did you have "hidden" money? Did you report it? I have a "friend" who would like to sleep easier...<grin>

i was just thinking that if my friend has certain issues that are of a bit of a shady issue then it might be wiser to use a attorney for reasons of the secrecy relationship. My understanding is that CPA's are required to report anything they see as shady and such....that correct?

From the URL above
"While there is an accountant-client privilege, it generally does not apply to criminal matters. Attorney involvement to protect the attorney-client privilege does not, per se, mean the return preparer-practitioner loses the ability to prepare the returns. Many tax attorneys do not prepare returns and instead retain accountants to prepare the returns for Non-Filers."
