It's the same thing here on the pro-Trump end of the aisle. He's just a guy - the adoration and/or hate seems out of place if you have any rational thought.

It blinds them to reality - I mean, you are SO obviously anti-Trump it would seem self-evident to anyone who can read, yet here they are saying you are pro-Trump.

What does that tell you about their ability to read, interpret and comprehend the news?

No and that's not fair. Trump imposed the tarrif out of the blue on several different countries including Canada. Many countries retaliated, including Canada. Donald Trump, the great deal maker and great negotiator, attempted no deal and no negotiation. He just acted.

why are euro tariffs on Harley-Davidsons so much more important to a ca than ca?

Why does the eu have tariffs on Harley at all? They already have an insanely high 25% tariff on H-D. Why?

Steel and aluminum production jobs represent a small segment of the U.S. economy -- about 255,000 jobs in steel and 61,000 in aluminum, according to Moody's Investors Service.

Manufacturers and end users make up a much larger portion of the economy. That means tariffs on raw materials, combined with retaliation from angry trading partners, may end up causing more harm than good. An estimate from consulting firm Trade Partnership forecast about 400,000 U.S. jobs lost versus 26,000 created as a result of the metal tariffs.

Klen 06-25-2018 02:40 PM

When Croatia was joining EU, that caused a problem because we were in CEFTA union which was no trade tarrif zone between countries on balkan which are not in EU. Since joining EU meant automatic leaving of CEFTA and reinstatement of trade tariffs, many companies had no choice but to move some of their factories to countries which they target in order to stay profitable.

NewNick 06-25-2018 03:20 PM

Like the POTUS himself all his followers dont seem to have the first idea why trade imbalances happen.

Then you have the Trump apologists who think that this ludicrous trade war is Trumps way of negotiating a new trade deal. This is not negotiating, this is acting like a 2 year old.

Trumps spokes persons say that he just want parity, and I have no problem with that if there are genuinely unfair import tarrifs in place. But FFS why can he not act like an adult, pick up the phone and make a case to Americas friends and allies ?

No he just makes ridiculous remarks about “terrible deals”, and other countries “taking advantage” of the US, which any one with a brain knows is nonsense.

Vendzilla is a wonderful example of this - he thinks the trade imbalance is because of tarrifs that the pesky Chinese put on good ol’Uncle Sams honest goods, when the truth is a lot more painful to admit.

The Chinese make good stuff at a price that US consumers want to pay. Simple.

The Chinese are not taking advantage, every post industrial western country has the same problem with low labour cost consumer goods.

Trump needs to open his eyes, listen to the economists that he employs, and stop acting like a fucking jerk. Then the carnage might stop.

Bladewire 06-25-2018 03:27 PM

Trump is now calling Harley liars and saying Harley is immune from the EU steel tarrifs

Surprised that Harley-Davidson, of all companies, would be the first to wave the White Flag. I fought hard for them and ultimately they will not pay tariffs selling into the E.U. - Taxes just a Harley excuse

It's the generation gap.
Back in the day just revvving up your engine at a red light means one thing.
Got a problem, knuckle up and let's just get it on.

It's not like that any more. The Millennial's think the world is theirs. You have the egghead college students that are book smart but not one lick of common street smart sense.

You have the wanna-be tough guys that talk a good game till you get in their face with some serious intentions and watch em back down.

You have some others that chose to venture "Off the set" to a bar and think they own the place. Own the place by THINKING they can hustle up on any race of women. Some bars just are not having that behavior.

● The meth heads
● The ones that stalk out a club waiting to rip your smart phone
● Others wanting to see a reaction as they micky your drink as you're on the dance floor.
● The tough guys following you into the bathroom looking to jack your ass up.
● Walking into the bathroom and all you hear are Snorts coming out of the stall of the coke being snorted. Females in the stall too.
● Walk to the parking lot and some guy is arguing with people leaning against his car.
Had to break that up and as they walked away here comes a freshly popped beer can come flying your way. Airborne beer all over parked cars as the beer can lands wherever.

I bounced in this one club where I kept a eye on this frail dude and his hot girl. He got up to take a piss and she was swarmed. I had to put a end to that and when home boy returned, I advised him and his girl to try another club.
I and the bar can see they wern't from around here making them a target.

It can get a little savage around here on Friday and Saturday nights.

Jobs are being created elsewhere for an American company; it is my understanding they have been planning on closing their 3rd plant for many months now. Nothing to do with tariffs.

What is the purpose of the tariff?
A tariff is a tax imposed on the import or export of goods. In general parlance, however, it refers to "import duties" charged at the time goods are imported. Tariffs have three primary functions: to serve as a source of revenue, to protect domestic industries, and to remedy trade distortions (punitive function).

Harley Davidson is in the process of closing it's Kansas City, Mo., plant, and moving some of that production into its York, Pennsylvania plant. They announced this some time ago. In addition to the plant closing, just today, Harley Davidson announced they are moving jobs to Europe BECAUSE of the tariffs. This really shows just how stupid Trump cultists are. If they had been planning this for many months and has nothing to do with tariffs then why this?

The company said in a regulatory filing Monday that EU tariffs on its motorcycles exported from the U.S. jumped between 6 percent and 31 percent, adding about $2,200 per average motorcycle exported from the U.S. to the EU.

“Increasing international production to alleviate the EU tariff burden is not the company’s preference, but represents the only sustainable option to make its motorcycles accessible to customers in the EU and maintain a viable business in Europe,” the company said in its prepared remarks.

Sorry I didn't answer your question earlier, ol' chum:

CA Tarrifs are just as important. My better half works for a very big company that is now scrambling to make adjustments thanks to Trump's Tarrifs. If I shared a news story about it here, few would care. But share a story about an all-American brand like Harley Davidson and how Trump is fucking them over, maybe without even realizing it, is more interesting to GFY and will probably make for a more interesting and informative conversation.

Mark you are such a moron, can you even read, they didn't say weather any jobs would be lost, but CNN said they will move some of their production, the two statements are conflicting at best, you need to get your news from a different news source.

Harley Davidson is a world brand now, it already has plants in Austrailia, Brazil and India. This is a company expanding it's market to an already strong base customer base in the UK. Morons like you are just looking to blame Trump for something, proving what a fucking idiot you are!

you said CNN was reporting fake news, but it turned out to be true.

You called me a moron for it, but you were the one who was wrong. You said the statements were conflicting at best, but this was wrong. You told me to get my news from other sources, but all sources are reporting the same thing.

Then finally you called me an idiot, even though you made 1, 2, 3 mistakes in a single rant. You didn't realize those mistakes, so you made 4 mistakes. You didn't correct those mistakes, so you made 5 mistakes.

Then you called me a "fucking idiot", which is actually a 6th mistake, though, I'll give you your opinion.

About his post :

you said CNN was reporting fake news, but it turned out to be true.

Care to apologize?

I love Vend but thats what trumpies do, is be very aggressive because they have nothing else. When you are right you dont have to call anyone names.

if that is your understand than all is fine.
US companies already making MUCH MORE profit outside of usa as your trade deficit.

if you really think that a company what is based in another country is still an "american company" you should inform yourself.
in that moment it is a company FROM THIS COUNTRY. just the capital is owned by an american company.

but it will cost jobs in USA - that´s pretty simple to understand or do you want to export american workers to brasil, india an thailand ?

Quote:

What is the purpose of the tariff?
A tariff is a tax imposed on the import or export of goods. In general parlance, however, it refers to "import duties" charged at the time goods are imported. Tariffs have three primary functions: to serve as a source of revenue, to protect domestic industries, and to remedy trade distortions (punitive function).
better don´t read wikipedia to learn what a tariff is. better learn what a trade war is and why there can not be a winner. I don´t know how many trillions more you can borrow but I know that the rest of the world can borrow more to survive.

this is only the beginning of it.
and the consequences will be seen in a few month and after that it needs a few years if not centuries to fix it again.

remember that your president gave a shit to any contracts earlier presidents signed.
this will not be forgotten. nobody will easily make a deal with USA ever again if contracts are not worth the paper they are written on.
