Real Disrespect of the Flag - GoFuckYourself.com

During Trump's interview with Sean Hannity in a hangar at an Air National Guard base in Pennsylvania, just before they start discussing the NFL Flag controversy, Retreat sounded.

Retreat marks the end of the day and is played during the Flag ceremony as the Flag is retired for the evening. During Retreat you are supposed to stand and face the Flag. If the Flag is not in sight then you are supposed to face the Music. You stand quietly, if in uniform you salute, until the last note of Retreat.

Instead of respecting the Flag by stopping talking as they should, Trump and Hannity continued the interview. Trump paused and stated that it was such a nice sound and asked if they were playing it to honor him and then joked about them playing it to honor Hannity and his ratings. They then continued the interview right through Retreat.

Now, that is disrespect to the Flag. That the Commander-In_Chief does not know enough, or care enough to know proper Flag etiquette is shameful. That he can fan the flames for the past weeks over the NFL players taking a knee in protest and call that disrespectful and then talk and joke right through Retreat is astounding and shows that he does not know the least bit about respecting the Flag.

In this video, the interview on Fox, Retreat starts at about the 18:22 mark. If you watch the video, you will see several people at the back of the room stand up as Retreat is sounded. A little further on, at aboout 18:47 you will see more people at the back stand up as they realize they are hearing Retreat. At 19:18 Retreat is completed and at about 19:26 you can see the people in the back trake their seats.

The instructions for Reveille and Retreat are in this video. The pertinent instructions are at about the 30 second mark. The procedures are the same for Reveille and Retreat.

All of this "respect for the flag" bullshit is pretty stupid. Most of the people making a big deal about it have never served their country. I was in the military, and I don't give two fucking shits if someone salutes the American flag or pisses on it.

It's that person's right to do either. Loving America is not a binary choice. Everyone can stick their feigned outrage up their stupid asshole.

I wouldn't know half of the decorum rules pertaining to a flag, and music at ceremonies excetera so I forgive people who don't know those social rules like I don't but if you went to military school & learned those rules but ignore then, that's nasty.

Kneeling in protest is fine if you start burning the flag shitting on it dragging it through the mud or whatever that disgusts me

It doesn't disgust me, but I would say that its a useless form of protest. After all, it's not always what the flag represents that you may be protesting against - its the people like Trump abusing what it represents.

The main thing anyone protesting needs to do is to get the message out in a peaceful way. Kneeling is so perfect for this, and its a simple thing that most anyone can do if they want to join the protest.
