well i'd be interested if it was succesful.. your signal to noise will be terrible, probably >90% of the email will be spam.

Although I have hooked up the odd expired tgp domain and received some interesting emails i.e I'd just made a sale with blah blah AVS.

Also once I accidentally put a bunch of expired domains to listen on port 25.. crashed my mailserver.

Worth a shot I guess.. what u got to lose?

... yes, some of the emails you receive are amazing. bankstatements, work emails, friends emails ... you name it.

... and of course 90% and more is spam, like always ... hahaha

i guess if you used one of the semi-decent spam-filters would make it a bunch easier to find the nuggets from the crap.

now if only i could be bothered

thanks for the input sacX, exim has a pretty good built in spam filter, this way you wonīt have to reply to any incoming mail by default ...

letīs do the maths, on an average expired domain I receive about 5 "no spam" emails daily. if you have 200 expired domains, that would make 1000 emails per day.

but this is different to oppt in mailings (because you will attach the initial email threaded) so youīll be probably looking at higher click rates. with a bit of luck you could get ONE or TWO signups per day. not much, I know ...

well, as everybody is talking about new traffic sources ... just thought I share this with you !!

well i never look at it as 1-2 signups a day.. I look at is 365/730 signups a year because once you've got the system up.. you don't really have to do much. However I'd be real surprised if you got that many signups. Of course results would probably vary depending on the quality of the domains picked up

Also if some of the domains weren't formally adult sites, might get the odd complaint.. i doubt anything serious.

I do like the idea though because you're responding to an email so it's not unsolicited. Reminds me of when i started out in porn I used an eggdrop to join irc chatrooms with female nicks, then bunches of dudes would msg the bot, who would reply with a hacked up version of those pseudo-AI Eliza scripts

I'm gonna put this on my list of things to try, thanks for bringing it up

I wrote an article on using Auto-Responders to build sales and save time a while back you might find it relevant on a couple of levels especially as they have a bunch of uses ;)
