eNom or DirectNIC for 60+ domains?
Renewals are a bitch, the $15 from DirectNIC just seems too high these days.
Signedup under eNom's ponzi domain name reseller scheme at the $8.95 rate under someone else's account. Is DirectNIC worth the extra $350-400 / year? I don't really see much difference. Maybe i'm missing something. ![]() |

I guess you haven't seen directNIC Dollars. "directNIC Dollars have been created to accommodate quantity discounts for all of directNIC's services." directNIC kicks ass. Can't go wrong with them. Also, you pay for what you get. ![]() |

If I read correctly and can make sense of their system I would save %20-27, but have to pay in advance for something that isn't specifically tied to a particular domain name. That seems problematic. eNom is still about %35 cheaper. |

Not really.. If you want to buy 200 domains, just prepay, get the discount, and then get the domains. Dude, you get what you pay for. Use a shitty registar...get shitty service. Use directNIC, get quality. |

Yes, I have about 60 domains with them that need to be renewed starting next month. The "free hosting" has banners, the parking & for sale pages all serve to promote DirectNIC and the majority of their "features" are available at eNom. Do you want to actually add anything to the thread enstead of whoring out their affiliate program? |

DirectNic makes it easy for people to steal your domain names (see http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth... nic+and+steal), other than that they are a great service but just make sure you "lock" your domains.

I've tried many registrars. DirectNic is the best I've used. They are solid.

do you know how to get ahold of someone from enom if something gets fucked up?
One of the owners of DirectNIC hangs out on Serge's board and is well know in the industry. If you have a bunch of shit domains then it might not matter, but if any of them are worth stealing I would go with someone you can trust. I've been using DirectNIC since they opened and never had a problem. ![]()

Buy in bulk and it drops way down to where most of the other ones are priced at.
DirecNIC has the best domain management interface in my humble opinion.

Directnic rocks!
But in my opinion you should never put all your eggs in one basket no matter how kickass a service is... I use Directnic and a couple other registrars... just in case one of them gets hacked/goes belly up or some other unforeseen disaster. Same thing goes for hosting -- I can never understand people who have multiple dedicated servers with only one host... spread that shit out! Just look what happened to Jay from Jay's XXX Links. ![]() ![]()

Enom's $5.99 name only account allows you to buy a domain, but the domain will not resolve unless you pay them another fee to have the domain resolve. The domain also can not be transferred unless you pay them a fee.
I know a little bit about how directNIC works, I'm the product development manager. Everything that is added to directNIC from our new Renewal Manager to what color a banner is going to be goes through me. I won't bash any of our competition, because each of us has our own niche just like all of you do. Enom for example, has the fastest growing reseller network. But let me tell you a small problem with the Enom reseller system, each reseller signs up under other resellers, so the person you could buy domains from for $8.95 may be under 5 other people in the Enom reseller system. But here's the fun part, do you know that every reseller above them has access to modify your domains? They have access to your domain and password, which gives them full control of all of your domains. When this was first brought to my attention, I signed up as a Enom reseller, then signed up by wife as a reseller under me. Then signed up my son as a reseller under here, then I bought a domain under my son's reseller account and the original reseller account could view and modify all of the information about the domain. And to me this is scary! But hey, it's just my opinion. Donny Simonton directNIC.com |
