Copyright violation

This is a question for all content producers here.
How do you protect your images from copyright violation? Any watermark system?

Thanks in advance.

i guess you talk about a system that includes a searchable code in the image... am i right? or you just talk of graphical software to automatically add your copyright on the images?

there is no way other than surfing and getting friends to look out for u. go join APIC, not sure how much it costs or how he works but he can create some noise.

don't sweat it, just make sure to get your URL on your images and videos. it's impossible to stop people from stealing.

I've looked at lots of different programs to watermark pictures and most of them distort the image or color. Even looked at systems to track our pics on the net, but just to expensive.

The only way is to surf and watch out for them, there are very obvious places where you can find lots of stolen images if you know where to look.

A lot of the notices I get are from clients who tell me about the thieves.

Then we do an investigation, try to contact the webmaster. If we do not get a satisfactory reply we stick APIC on to them.

They usually deal with it quickly. Not the perfect organisation, but the only one we can find with teeth that bite.

Same here. We put the URL on every photo we put out. And lots and lots of surfers report violations to us. We send a warning first, then let our attorney have at them.

There is a way to code all images so that you can track images on the web, its expensive but works well its available or used to be from a company called BayTSP their site is
http://www.baytsp.com/

This is not DIGIMARK which can be made unreadable in Photoshop. This is code that is placed in the image and you would need to know exactly where to be able to remove it.

I know it works because we have used it and a number of sites we deal with use it. But its expensive.

Watermarks are definately one way.

Place a copyright logo on your content with your company name and or url. Register your images with the US copyright office as well.

Kepp track as best you can through records of who you license your content to and what urls they will be using it on.

Start of with that and see how it goes for you. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up.

Hope this helps.

I have been considering sending files to the US Copyright office quarterly for all my webpages and images. Anyone know a super-snazzy way to do this electronicly without a patent attorney?

You can place a little square with your face in the down right or left corner of the image. I'm shure that nobody will be able to convince other people that this is not your face showing at the pic.

You can put your face also in the middle of the pic, so surfers will be able to recognize you when they see you walking on the street. I tried this some years ago, and my neighbour told me that my face was showing on a porn site, so the method works
