best way to run a free site?
I want to set up a free site, but not sure the best way to run it.
It is going to feature original content, but with a humorous slant... It is the kind of novelty people would look at a few times, but not pay a membership for. Should I use a free host and push sponsors? Go with something like NastyDollars free hosting? Buy some hosting and push it towards my sites? Ideas? |

Free sites use free scripts. Try that anyway.

I would get a relatively cheap host, and promote a very relevant sponsor pretty heavily.

Go for several free sites!
Each of your pay sites should have several free feeder sites. Each of those free sites should have a pop under to a trade site which, in turn should feed both your free sites and your pay sites. If each of your free sites are different - Some with regularly updated text content etc, you will get a load of bookmarks - And the text will help with se positions. Once completed, start another group - Only this group you can go 50-50 with your sites and sponsors - Then start another group..... Of each group, the main site is the trader site - This is the site which ensures you have thousands of surfers racking up bandwidth charges on your free sites and loads of customers joining your pay sites.
