Operation: "Feedom"?? "No to America, No to Saddam,"

Quote:

The reconstruction of Iraq got off to a rocky start yesterday when 20,000 demonstrators gathered in the streets to protest against a U.S.-run meeting that was aimed at launching a new postwar democracy.
20, 000 people, and nothing on Cnn ?? That is more than the 50-100 people that brought down the Saddam staue ( played and replayed till the tape was worn out!)

another source:

Nice news reporting.... Play again the statue please.... I like that.
Not everyone shared his optimism. Shiite Muslims demonstrated outside the meeting, angry that local leaders hadn't been invited.

Thousands marched in the streets of Nasiriyah chanting: "No to Saddam! No to America!"
http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2003/04/15/iraq_meeting030415

Now the " embedded US version" :

FoxNews: nothing ( net or TV) .

CNN : nothing on net or TV

Yahoo.com:

Quote:
But in a measure of just how politically tricky the task ahead could be, some Muslims boycotted the meeting to protest U.S. plans to install a retired American general as Iraq's temporary administrator, and thousands demonstrated nearby, shouting: "No to America and no to Saddam!"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...=540&ncid=1473

Notice the " some muslims", like if it was an unimportant quantity

from above aricles:

Quote:
The meeting was boycotted by Iraq's leading Shia group, and only hand-picked delegates were allowed to attend. Other leaders were left outside a gate, pleading to enter.

All your posts ever prove is that you put more weight in one biased news agency over another biased news agency.

Directfiesta is right on. All he is doing is underscoring the principals of PROPAGANDA.

All the above stories are arguably true. 150 or so gathered around the Saddam statue as it was pulled down while thousands protested in America nearby in the streets.

The American media chose to ONLY show the 150 person statue photo-op.

The foreign mainstream media covered the thousands demonstrating against America.

The truth is both sides added together plus a third component which can only be garnered from independent sources.

"we're going to liberate iraqi's people"

they're free now right?

Hee. Hee. When America says that the Iraqi people are "free" what that means is that they are free to allow a US General and some oil executives to decide the future of their country.

The US does not like that little thing called "democracy" unless they are the ones who install the leaders. The guy they put in charge of Afghanistan, Karzai, is a former Unocal oil executive very cosy with all of Bush's oil cronies.

A couple of years back the US practically rejoiced when General Musharaff overthrew the democratically elected leader of Pakistan and installed a US-friendly military dictatorship. You'll never see the US trying to install "democracy" in Pakistan, a country with nuclear weapons that virtually breeds terrorists by the hundreds of thousands.

I think it's fuckin great. I was actually happy to hear about that. I think in a way it shows that they know the US isn't evil and brutal and won't silence them for saying things we disagree with. They know they have freedom. They know the US gave them that freedom. How could anyone disagree with the chant "no to america. no to saddam."? They don't want to be ruled by a dictator or a foreign power. Good for them and god bless america.

wonton, you must be talking about the u.s. government, not the u.s. people in general. before the war started, cnn stated that out of every ten letters to the white house about war, nine were against. who knows if it's true, but bush said he didn't listen to public opinion on t.v. - a strange attitude for a public servant.

there are a lot of people in the u.s. and most of us don't work for the govenment.
