organic food -- worth the extra money?

what do you think? I think the stuff tastes a lot better, but as far as nutrition, etc... is it worth it? I'm shopping at this place now that is almost 100% organic, but sometimes I wonder if I'm just getting screwed paying more... I can't really taste the difference between regular celery and organic celery... but other things like oranges or pears... the flavor is WAY better...

Sprayed with chemical pesticides etc. would make it "inorganic."

Cheers,
Matt

in otherwords, "not organically grown", instead of "not organic".

I think it also has to do with mostly fertilizer and pesticides... I think there is some organization that certifies the farms to be "organic"... you really can taste the difference with some things...

if you've ever driven through a lot of cow pastures -- some of them are like filthy concentration camps and all the cows are fucking in the dirt -- like a scene from hell... and then there are the happy green pastures where the cows look fucking happy heeh... U always got to wonder which one you are drinking

I buy alot of organic stuff from Trader Joes. Most of it is no more expensive than similar non-organic products from supermarket chain stores.

It take 10 times more land to grow the same amount of inorganic vegetables as it does to grow inorganic mainly due to the use of pesticides.

pesticides= insecticides, herbicides acarcides & fungicides.

Without these yields are much much smaller resulting in the need to charge so much more.

Yeah they call it Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), it's the shit. Look for it in your area. We get a basket a week of just picked organically grown fruits and veggies, and it rocks. Mmmmm.
