Most famous event you've ever personally witnessed?

For me...I guess it would have to be the World Series one year. Pretty sad...but I guess it'll have to do.

Anyone else have a more interesting account of something historical/important that you actually witnessed live?

Yep, I'll never forget it. It was pretty much the beginning of the high technology age. Once we accomplished this, the mindset amongst American scientists was pretty much we can do anything we can think of now.

10:56 pm EDT on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the Moon

"One small step for man - one giant leap for mankind" - Neil Armstrong's unforgettable words as he stepped off the Apollo 11 capsule and on to the moon.

Were you in the audience at the Ed Sullivan show Shemp? I was watching that.

I'll never forget the next day, every girl young and old in America had a crush on Paul McCartney.

I had my Benz loaded up with a fucking arsenal of all kinds of goodies.

Didn't think it would hop over to the Valley, so when it started to hit Encino, I said Oh Shit.

unfortunately I was only around 13 at the time and I didnt do a lot of looting ,just mainly helping my older brother gather up things to put into the truck. Must have made at least 8 stops the first night dropping off things...the funny thing is relations still havent been any better between the police and blacks, in fact, they are worse now more than ever...but they handle PR excellently

Were you ever in LA Joe? Over the years I had the following happen:

a 450SL slashed top and key'd hood, and sides.

a 560SL bent antenna, and key'd a couple times

a 450SE stolen hubcaps

a 560SEL smashed window and all they took was .75 cents sitting on the console

2 stolen Porsches, and when we found it in the chop shop with nothing but the shell left, the asswipe had written with grease on the side "Nice Porsche! "

and that's just what comes to mind at the moment.

people that key cars should be slapped. It's one thing to steal a car radio or whatever to support a crack habit, but keying is just senseless juvenile erectile dysfunction retribution.

Sept. 11th was pretty incredible... although I only watched it on TV.

I know a bunch of you guys were there and lived it.. I think that was probably the most significant recent event.

It depends. If I catch you parked crooked across two spaces I might just take a minute of my time to make a revolution around your car with my keys.

passive agressive road rage.. yeah how often is that though in the scheme of things, it's mostly just because you have a nice car.. a relative had a '91 BMW 318i worth all of 8k keyed just because it was a "bimmer" - dolts don't know that the shitty falcon/ford/commodore etc sedan next to it is more expensive.

Funny you say that, cause I don't buy Benz's anymore. When we moved to Florida, I gave up the self indulgent lifestyle we had in LA, and after I had my first son especially, my priorities and values changed 180 degrees, and I realized my possessions were just that. Now I stay lowkey and only like and drive SUV's.

LA I think is the worst city in the country for vehicle vandalism. When I lived out there it was constant. Since moving to Florida, not one time and I've been here for 9 years.

Ok not quite a famous event, but when I was 16 I attended a "Say No To Drugs" rally at the rosebowl where my school's dance team performed.

I got to shake Nancy Reagan's hand and have a pic with me behind her on a stage, shooting the devil horn hand symbol.

"One small step for man - one giant leap for mankind" - Neil Armstrong's unforgettable words as he stepped off the Apollo 11 capsule and on to the moon.

While I didn't see this in person I remember watching it live at school. Will never forget it
