Labret - the offset is the placement of the center of the wheel with respect to the tire (like the spokes and stuff - where it's centered widthways in the tire).

i'll try and find some pictures.


"backspacing" is the space between the lug holes or whatever and the _inside_ lip of the rim. you have to move this around to get it to fit on different vehicles.

it may be switchable, but that's not being a very good boyscout!

offset is very similar, but i can't remember if that refers to the front side or backside of the wheel - it's been a while since i've messed with wheels.

one of my Car Crafts has a really good article on tires and wheels and stuff. i should find it and scan some stuff, that would explain everything.

My first set of rims were bbs. Nice chromed 18's. They kept saying how great the rims were, that they were the lightest rim on the market, the chrome would never fade, etc...

Until i hit a 1/2 in pot hole and totally destroyed the rim. Yes they might be light weight, but they are weak as shit. I'm on my 3rd pair of rims and just realized that 18 inch low profile wheels in NY do not hold up with all these fucking pot holes.

Indeed. I ordered a Lexus GS430 but when it got here, I passed on it. Now I am strongly considering a Mercedes S500. Now that is a car that some nice wheels would look sweet on.

i think the H2 looks cool, but it's just a chevy truck with a different body. if i was buying something like that, i'd go with a regular hummer. that way i could do some real damage.

and i can guarantee i wouldn't put those fancy 24" wheels made for the hummer on it. if anything, i'd give it a lift kit.
