IF this rumor is true, I am willing to bet it relates to avs' like adultticket, mogulpass and the other dozen of so called 'free' avs sites that come 'free' only with a 'free 1.68$' trial from babenet or dermurell or free membership with the purchase of a $39.95 membership again via babenet or dermurell.

Yes, and I imagine if this info. is indeed true, since from reading some of the AVS boards...that there are a serious number of webmasters doing AVS solely, that this could be a massive bomb that just landed in their lap today.

I have heard from some people that certian models of AVS programs are Chargeback hell .... Just look over the avs programs out there and think which ones you think would have high charge backs ?

I agree. It will actually be a good thing if all those 'FREE' avs get shut down (not talking about sexkey that actually is free and offers a truly free trial to their upsell site).

It would seem -- and possibly rightly so -- that Visa is taking the stand that AVS are unregulated aggregators, meaning that they do not report the urls that they are taking signups from.

The case could also be made that AVS are really no different from regular affiliate programs I think... that their webmasters are doing nothing more than marketing in the same manner that tgp galleries and free sites do and that they simply group the reseller marketing pages together in an easy to return to system...

I would imagine that Visas main concern is that TMF accts can go into the AVS system and hide, while still collecting money same as they used to --

IF, and its a big IF, Visa were to disallow AVS sites to exist any more, then they could collect their $750 from everyone that currently has a premium avs site and then had to get their own processing I guess...

I think adult Checks Model is Solid and wont be going anywhere.. It is better to do it that way anyway as the surfers gets better quality sites that dont make him feel like he has wasted his money ..

Quite frankly I'd think the truly free avs have the best chance of staying afloat IF there is going to be a Visa action against avs. After all, they do no transactions so there is nothing that Visa can really say about them. The paysites that the surfer joins on the add on sale are, one would hope, registered and compliant as they should be.

But that still wouldn't do anything to solve the problem of TMF accounts from hiding inside the system. The free AVSs pay out to the webmasters who have sites with them, so those webmasters are still making money, regardless the cost for a surfer to join the umbrella network.

The way VISA is obviously seeing it - the AVS systems are effectively acting as third party processors for AVS and AVS premium site owners.

Actually Jim it is happening. Not that Visa is specifically saying they have to do it but one of the processors is pulling the plug on them tonite unless something changed in the last 6 hours. :(

This is not the end of the world, it's another golden oppoertunity to make money. The AVS sites are full of people who steal pics and put up lots of crap sites that do us no good what so ever.

If they all disappear what will happen?
The surfer will stop surfing?
The surfer will have to pay for membership?

All that will happen is a few college kids will have to think a little bit deeper on how to get into the porn industry. This industry would be stronger not weaker if we lost the AVS sites.

This is quite possibly the most ignorant statement I have ever read on this board.

I was just surfing thru a couple that I was aware of and noticed that with one exception they've changed processing setups.

If regulating the webmasters is the issue here, I don't understand why Visa just wouldn't demand the registration of every AVS webmaster & collect their $750.

How would shutting them down benefit Visa? The AVSs already have our names, addresses etc. It wouldn't be hard to just make them charge us the fee like the 3rd party billers did.

because you can link any type of content you want directly to sponsors join page (illegal and not) and charge the surfer promising the content. The sponsor cannot have control on this. That's pretty much the same with the avs model. AVS sites are getting reviewed of course. Now we have the following cases: some of them will give you credit for the signups generated before your site got approved. The possibility for the webmaster to change the page anytime he wants and put anything up is still open. Additionaly, as KK said AVS do not report their urls in VISA...

So why is it so bad?

The AVS sites do not have lots of stolen content in?
It is not the easiest way into the market for those of little talent?
Surfers will stop surfing because of the demise of the AVS model?

There are some good creditable guys making a buck in the AVS system, but the majority is poor at best. This reflects badly on us as an industry.

I don't think it matters what they call themselves. At the end of the day Visa wants to see where the sales are coming from and under the current system they do not see that.

I'd bet that the processors who are continuing with AVS are working on plans for Visa right now, detailing how they can work with the AVS's to facilitate what Visa wants -- it should be a simple system since the AVS's already know what urls are sending them traffic, since they collect them upon submission by the webmasters.

The only place I can see a hitch is that it makes it impossible for Visa to approve or disapprove those urls prior to sales being made on them and would be a hell of a lot of work to police on Visa's part.
