Republicans out of touch with reality with energy

The solar industry in the united states now has over 260 thousand jobs. In 2016 alone 51 thousand jobs were added in the solar industry. The solar industry has nearly 100k more jobs than coal, but Trump's new energy plan doesn't even mention solar..

National Solar Jobs Census - The Solar Foundation

Now compare that to coal..

There are approximately 174,000 blue-collar, full-time, permanent jobs related to coal in the U.S.: mining (83,000), transportation (31,000), and power plant employment (60,000). (See below for details on each sector.)

Coal and jobs in the United States - SourceWatch

Now add in wind power, at the start 2016 this industry supported 80k jobs
US wind power jobs hit record, up 20 percent in 2016 & Wind power reaches 100K job milestone | HPPR

Since then it's added another 20 thousand jobs over the last year and by 2050 wind power alone is projected to supply this country 650 thousand jobs..

Meanwhile Republicans hate renewable power and do everything possible to push the dying industry of coal.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.8cbbec39621c

Why is Trump & Republicans so out of touch with reality? Even the industry in their own states like Texas, Wyoming, Kansas are putting wind mills up all over the place while Republicans in Washington rally against industries supporting jobs in their own states. Trump talks about jobs but completely ignores one of the biggest job growth industries in our current time all to support a failed ideology and old technology..

added bonus, wind & solar don't pollute the environment to create electric and add mercury to our drinking water..

In other related industry news.. Shell wants to leave oil rig remains in the North Sea for 500 years.. Rather than be responsible for cleaning up their own mess..

They're just out of touch...period. How else would you explain the Betsy Devos situation?

So many democratic senators stood up to explain why she's a horrible pick. Did any Republican go up to speak in defense of her? No, because she's indefensible as a pick for head of schools. But they still voted her through.

They're in touch with their donors, and that's about it.

At least 31 thousand of them will be replaced by self driving trucks...

With Trump it's not about moving forward and what's best for the country. With Trump it's about making money and the good old boy network and Trumplestiltskins will tongue his ass 24/7 in the false hope a little cash will trickle down, which it never does.

The Republican base will be the future unemployed because they are hard headed and tend to stick with failing industries instead of moving with the future. For some reason conservatives think they can stop reality and instead live in their wonderland indefinitely.

This is proven by looking at the Appalachians. The coal industry has been dying for years, it;s not a "new" thing, yet this entire area of the country has continued to try to hang on to a dying income source and not attempted to better their situation but instead now waits for govt hand outs.

It will be the same for truck drivers, the writing is on the wall. Drivers today who are in their 30's will have a tough time staying in that industry until they retire. Drivers in their 40's might have a chance to retire and not need a new industry to jump to but it will likely be the last group. Right now truck driving is the number one employer in this country and that will soon end over the next 20 years.

Damn fool.

Obama worked hard to shut down coal. Liberals rejoiced. That lost energy had to be replaced by something, so they amped up fracking. Now liberals are crying over the fracking.

Fracking exists because you shut down coal.

Solar will be great in the future, but it is still too costly and unreliable for anywhere but the sunny southwest US.

Dildo, fracking has been the death nail to coal along with solar/wind.

Coal is a more expensive option vs all 3 of these. The free market ended coal..

Btw you seem to be another JoushaMo nick looking at your raging history here...

It's obvious coal mining is on the decline while solar is up and coming. The answer here is obvious - they need to be investing their money into solar. Why not shut down the land the mines are on and build a solar panel factory?

This is what I've been saying about the power companies and oil companies. They need to retool themselves yesterday. The power company here in my area is PG&E, and they are in a shitty position. They have to plan out power plants years in advance and anticipate power needs to for the entire state. We had a huge problem in the late 1990s when they physically could not produce enough power for us. Now more and more people are getting solar power, and power needs are dropping rapidly. They will need to scale back on power production. Eventually there will be little need for power plants - everyone will have solar power.

Same thing with the oil companies. Eventually we will all have electric cars running off of solar power. If they do not invest in something else they will not exist fifty years from now.

They are trying to stop solar by funding republicans. Its the logic of idiotarcy instead of advancing they want to hold us back for their profits.

It would be like trying to stop coal in the 1800s to keep steam...

This is pointless and they know it will fail. They are just trying to delay it as long as possible.

I don't understand this from a business point of view. If you know your business model is changing, you had better do everything you can to be ahead of that curve.

There are many businesses that fail because they do not move with the times. Look at the Record industry as perfect example, when the internet came around they did everything possible to fight it instead of giving people what they wanted. Easy access to down loadable media.

Because the Record Companies failed to adapt they allowed a company like Apple to corner a large part of the market which rightfully could of been theirs.

the point is that 99% of the people from the street do not know about the danger behind fracking. for them it´s something like a sandbox game.

not true - even in germany it works profitable.
the techniqes are meanwhile so astonishing that they can oroduce energy with simple daylight on a cloudy day.

i have a lot of friends in germany who have it and living in regions with really few sun. my father in law installed it 25 years ago for his warmwater and 5 or 6 years ago for the complete powersupply of the house. he is SELLING the overproduction of energy and in this year all the investion is back.

and that is possible because the technology for that is german - exported to china - produced in china - imported to germany and cheap like fuck.
sure it killed german production industry for solarpanels but it strengtht the high tech industry and science what is growing in germany and it it the reason why thousands of companies where founded what are selling this technology in germany and the EU.

so win - win - win on all sites including the most important one: THE INVIROMENT
