Can you live without cPanel? My new host doesn't have it

![]() Would you be able to work as well without cPanel? I've always had it since the start, but now I'm switching hosts (to a faster one and saving 50 bucks per month), turns out the host has no cPanel or alternative. If I want something done, I can ask them and they do it. I've only just found this out, so I'm trying to work out if I can live without cPanel, here's the stuff I regularly go there for - Creating new Wordpress blogs - Now I would need to ask the host do this - AWStats - I have Google Analytics also, but I like to look at both - IP Deny Manager - I can do this manually I believe - phpMyAdmin - I use it for mass search/replace in Wordpress databases, maybe there is a Wordpress plugin instead? - Subdomains - Can be done manually I assume What are your thoughts? Is cPanel worth sticking with or is it just a matter of finding quick workarounds for all of this? I'm very keen to save the $50 per month and have a faster server too, as long as I'm not shooting myself in the foot at the same time.

Ask your host to install Virualmin on your server. It's free and works great.

I have get the same problem in past and i have been stuck to learn a new way around. That's not cool at all.

If i was you i would make them installed it with softcalous pay the extra fee should be around 5$ - 10$ if they ask. If they don't proceed to your request well... Change hosting... sucks but Learning new work around = time consuming and i doubt your looking for this. I don't get it why hosting make everything in their power so you suck the life out of them with LOTS of request to fix or set up stuff when you could do your self if proper software and tools would be installed on your server AKA cpanel. IMO Good Luck

Probably yes, I don't log in there that often actually, but I currently use about 10 different hosts and most of them have cPanel, some have their own solution/control panel.

All those things you listed can be done fairly quickly and easily once you learn the steps, and that shouldn't take too long either. |

Purchase your own license and have the host install it for you. Do the same with a "one click" style plug-in that allows you to easily add WordPress and hundreds of other scripts.

Have never been a fan of cPanel. Don't use it just because that's what you have been using for the past 10 years, take this as an opportunity to shop around and find a control panel that you like. We use Direct Admin and Softaculous as a default.

This is how I see it:

With Cpanel, you are on your own. Most of the people don't know much about servers and when you need something, you actually need server admin. This is why managed hostings are more expensive since you basically have an adequate person doing things for you on their end. If something goes wrong, it is not your responsibility. I often have something new to do, like installing scripts checking some bugs, etc. I just send them an email and get professional help. Huge time saver. I had CP on older and cheaper hosting accounts and didn’t see that as an advantage. In this moment, I have few local sites, they also have som kind of panel (never bothered to see which one, maybe it is cpanel) and I hate it because I need to spend time instead of just saying to someone to do it. My previous hosting company also didn't have Cpanel. I see it as a kind of bonus. Wit the current company, being managed saved me time and nerves. There are various scenarios. For example, I send them tutorial and they read it when doing something for me. Last time I needed new email created for 40 domains. I just say: create me email address webmaster@ all domains hosted there with some password. That’s it. I am now looking through my support tickets and checking my requests. It simply saved me time to: block Ip addresses, change cron settings, restore accidentally deleted dir, block ip ranges, install https certificate (just try to do this on your own for the first time) instal third party scripts, disable/enable server options, setting redirects, and even diagnose problem with wp plugin and fix it for me. Last time they cleaned malware injection in some of my scripts. I am not capable of doing things like this and I feel very comfortable knowing that someone is really there not asking for the extra buck for additional work. At my current company that I am not planning to change, they even gave me bonuses. When my sites were overloaded, they simply upgrade me with memory and didn’t charge a thing. At some point when I’ve asked about the storage price, people just gave few terabytes of space since I am a loyal customer. I think I never pasted affiliate link here or gave kudos to some company but this is the opportunity to do so. Check them out here. I am giving best recommendation for their service and attitude for clients. Believe me, I’ve experienced various companies and services until now.

Cyberwurx is by far the best non-cpanel host I've ever used. Extra IP's are dirt cheap. Ticket times are in minutes. Plus they have their own panel for many functions. Phpmyadmin installed. Use their own formulation of debian.

I prefer Direct Admin, much lower on server resources and does everything I need, The license is also much cheaper than cPanel...

		 Wrong question.

Without cpanel - yes. Without control panel - no. Your host is the second version (no alternative to cpanel, as in no any control panel at all), not just "no cpanel". |
