Anyone ever use InkJet refill kits?
The ones you find at the local computer outlets for $20 or so. Have you had success with them, or are they a waste of money? My ink levels are getting low and at $32-$34 a pop it just seems ridiculous.
Is the quality of the ink any good for the refills?

I just got one at OfficeMax for the first time last week. Its the black ink refill and it cost $12. So far its working ok, but like I said, I've only had it a week.

Yeah, it was pretty easy to do. And I'm not exactly the most "mechanically inclined" person either.
It came with a little drill that you use to expand the airhole in the top of the cartridge, then you use a syringe thing to inject the ink. It's that simple. |

I've always thought it would be of equal or better quality than the ink that comes in the retail cartridge. I was looking at a refill kit one day and this doofus salesman said that the refill kits were a piece of crap, said it clogged up inkjet spray nozzles and whatnot. I thought he was full of it at the time but I wanted to make.

Depending on what type of printer it is, the refills might work for 2-4 times then die out. The print head gets clogged/old after a while and then you will need a new one.

The new epson printers defeat them.

true dat, if you're using some crazy photprinter, you'd probably be best to just buy the oems. but, since you're not it'd probably be okay. ever use refilled laser cartridges? those things work great and all... until you find out the cartridge needs to be rebuilt when YOU AND YOUR DESK GET COVERED IN TONER BECAUSE IT'S FUCKED UP! AGH!
