I have been surfing around and looked under every stone to find a billing co.
Now that PayPal is pulling the rug under us, we have to find something else.

I have read a lot of bad things about iBill, WSB, CCbill...you name it ,and somebody has trashed them.... :-(

Question:
Have anybody any good or bad things to say about 2CheckOut.com ??.

I know it's not for paysites, selling subscriptions, BUT if us ( the content providers, with no Merchant accounts ) don't find a simple solution, then we cant sell, and what then with the paysites.??

We need a simple way of selling, where people can buy with their credit card, without opening seperate accounts, they don't need and filling out several forms.

Would love to hear from somebody that knows about 2CheckOut because we are running out of time.

Check their message board.. loaded with worried customers
and they dont even bother to reply/close/kill threads.

I checked out 2Checkout, don't recall why I didn't want to touch them. What's wrong with CCBill? Do you need a shopping cart? (Yes - Paycom / No - Epoch). There's a lot of options out there. Do some searches on the board, this has been a very active topic of discussion.

just curious, what have you read bad about ccBill? we've been using them exclusively for almost three years now and never had one problem w/ them... in comparison to the other players, ccBill is gold. no late checks, no bounced checks, no headaches... hell, they even refund the entire VISA fee to you..!

as for 2CheckOut.com, never even heard of them... but you should be very wary of the really small processor operations, many of them seem to come and go these days, leaving a trail of bloodied webmasters in their wake..

I found them one year ago...at that time they didn't wanted to sell adult items...but if you see their product line, then they have changed. It's only subscriptions ( virtual purchase ) they don't want to tuch.
and they don't bite you for 12-15 %

That was a maybe a mistake with ccbill, but from what I understand, then you need a Merchant account to be with them, and since I'm not US located and don't have a SS card, then it's allmost impossible to get one..

i signed up for a small host last summer using 2checkout, i got a call at 8am from a dude named tyrone asking me if the charge was ok with me, woke me up the fuck up at 8am, i was pissed

i know some people that use them successfully tho

I don't know of any CCBill horror stories. The simple fact is, they are stable, and they pay the right amount on time, every time.

I'm not sure how useful they would be for a content shop, though, as I think their maximum is pretty low, and shopping cart wouldn't be easy.

it is pretty easy if you don't need to use services like paypal transfers... for cc processing - we open accounts easily but to really start accepting credit cards - your site would need to be reviewed and approved. it's not that easy

For the sake of correction, Paycom and Epoch are the same company. Paycom is the parent company of Epoch. Same phone number.

The facts as i see them:- most of you guys know i hate Ibill, why ? . Its their lack of customer service, the most important requirement of any billing company. But they do or have paid us on time every time and their scrub rate seems lower than most so more sign ups. ( no we don't get more charge backs with them ) But since they have no customer service we dropped Ibill in favor of Epoch, their customer service is first class, same with there tech service, all great guys. Scrub rate is higher and payments we receive by check are sometimes a few days late but never more than a week.
Globil very high scrub rate and low retention rate, checks are on time but very few members stay if they join using this processor. Over the last few weeks we have dropped accepting checks until we find a company that dose more to stop fraud. Globil has a system that works well and that is to hold back membership until a check clears ( 3-5 days ) ( a surprising # use this facility ). We are considering CC Bill as our Ibill replacement, even Epoch recommend this course of action so i guess they have to symbiotic relationship.

If anyone knows a company that takes checks and has some sort of policing policy i would be interested to hear of them.

It's hard to imagine any one processing solution being all things to all people. Further, competition is good.

This is what I can tell you about Paycom/Epoch.

Ancher why can't you get a merchant account in Europe? I'm sure it would be much easier for you than trying to get one through an American company/bank.

The way I see it you're going to need a merchant account unless somebody steps up to take Paypal's place. When Epassporte can make it so you can withdraw money into a bank account that will be good for people selling services/products to webmasters.

I just got an email today from the merchant bank, gotta pay them a $1,950 registration fee cuz content licensing is high risk.
Sucks. It's a B2B business and is extremely low risk, in the last 7 months I've sold custom content to about 50 different web companies, I take no money upfront - not one deadbeat. Meaning adult webmasters as B2B customers are better bets than mainstream businesses.

They tell me that it's 'high risk' because the content can be delivered via FTP download. What a crock.

But gotta pay anyway.

Thank's for all your input and advice, but I think I'm going with 2CheckOut...
I haven't heard one bad word about them, actually only good from other posts. They also interface with my shopping cart, and people can just walk into my store, pick out the content they want, and throw their credit card on the counter...pay... and walk out.
That's the easiest way, and I think the best...

Mutt ! I'm located in Czech Rep. for the moment...you try to get a merchant account here via a czech bank, it's easyer to get Celine Dion to sit down at your bedside and sing you a lullabye.

This company seems very close to paypal but instead of the payment going into an online account, you can generate the HTML buttons for your site & the payment is transferred directly into your bank account via EFT. Anyone using them?

Have you ever heard of TokenSystems? I have been using them for a long time now and I believe their system is the best way to charge for your content.

It is a pay-per-view AVS company and you can charge a couple dollars for just one movie clip and believe me, PEOPLE WILL PAY IT! Save your bandwidth charges and don't give your whole site away for $20-30 a month. Make a couple dollars off just one movie clip!

I've seen that on sites before, looked pretty interesting...

only downside I could imagine is paying 'per movie clip' or whatnot, sounds like a monsterous job if you run a movie paysite....

I haven't heard one bad word about them, actually only good from other posts. They also interface with my shopping cart, and people can just walk into my store, pick out the content they want, and throw their credit card on the counter...pay... and walk out. I have been using them for a long time now and I believe their system is the best way to charge for your content. It is a pay-per-view AVS company and you can charge a couple dollars for just one movie clip and believe me, PEOPLE WILL PAY IT! Save your bandwidth charges and don't give your whole site away for $20-30 a month. Make a couple dollars off just one movie clip!
