A little bird built a nest in my hanging strawberry plant. How should I handle this?
She laid 4 eggs and seems to hardly ever leaves her nest so she is a good momma bird. But now after 8 days of not watering the plant it is beginning to wilt and die in the strong sunshine. I am afraid if I water the plant that she will abandon her nest and not come back. However if I let the plant die it will no longer provide adequate cover for her babies when they hatch next week and a crow will come and eat them. I have seen a crow raid a nest a few years ago and it was tough to watch. What should I do?

I'd try to water it from afar. If you leave no scent and dont touch it she should be ok.

Good news!
Weather the rest of the week looks like a healthy combo of tepid warm overcast skies and cloudy rainy days! Any chance of posting a pic of the nest? Any idea what species the mother is? ![]() |

If you had to choose, choose the bird and her babies. Good luck!
