A little bird built a nest in my hanging strawberry plant. How should I handle this?

She laid 4 eggs and seems to hardly ever leaves her nest so she is a good momma bird. But now after 8 days of not watering the plant it is beginning to wilt and die in the strong sunshine. I am afraid if I water the plant that she will abandon her nest and not come back. However if I let the plant die it will no longer provide adequate cover for her babies when they hatch next week and a crow will come and eat them. I have seen a crow raid a nest a few years ago and it was tough to watch. What should I do?

whats more important to you, an animal life or a plant life?

I'd try to water it from afar. If you leave no scent and dont touch it she should be ok.

Good news!

Weather the rest of the week looks like a healthy combo of tepid warm overcast skies and cloudy rainy days! :thumbsup

Any chance of posting a pic of the nest? Any idea what species the mother is?

Maybe call the local vet or wildlife society and ask them? Or look around for any kind of forum that has info on this.

If you had to choose, choose the bird and her babies.

Good luck!

Water it she will come back, just do it quickly and dont disturb the nest

Just throw the fucking nest out and stomp on it. The fuckers will be shitting on your stuff in no time.

Eventually, those damn crows will either raid the nest or kill the young.run a hose to the plant and water away
