Wood floors are very nice but require some maintenance every few years and yeah they can be scratched or dented if you drop something on it.
Marble floors are nice also and not so prone to damage. If you get granite counter tops, chances are you can get granite or marble flooring to match. My new house in vegas has big 20 inch marble tiles thru half of it, looks very nice |

My house was just completed (1500SqFt addition, pretty much new everything) so if you have any questions, hit me up. |
I went with maple for my kitchen/dining area. It's light and bright. On that side of the house, most of the wood I've used for furniture etc, is light... washed oak and light oak. The woods in the rest of the house are all dark cherry (I mean dark..not red red). When I repaint the main part of the house in the next year or so, I'm thinking of having the existing painted crown molding removed and replaced with finished cherry crown moldings to match the wood in the furniture.

Congrats Bone.
My girlfriend does interior design. If you want her to give you some input, hit me up on ICQ, man. She loves this kind of shit. |

No, but she can determine from photos.
This is what she said, when I asked her if she could do it via photos, e-mail, telephone. "All I need is a budget, what your looking for and photographs." |

phitty - bitch.
Damn this is a good week. |
Hahaha Bone, congrats but I sense you haven't had a house built from ground up before. Let me tell you, the fun hasn't even begun. I did this nutty thing myself when we lived in LA. Fucking contractors will promise you the world for completion dates. Bunch of BS lying cocksuckers. From start to finish it was a fricking nightmare dealing with all those idiots. What was supposed to be finished in 6 months took a year and a half to actually get done. They got a million excuses and blame it on supply delays, waiting on other contractors, crew not showing up, etc. etc. All sorts of crap.
Of course a lot depends on how far you're going and what type of materials. Stick to basics and watch out for the high end custom crap, like fancy imported Italian marbles and all that. We had our marble guy for example fuckup with a miscalculation on the amount he needed and we ended up with mismatched marble as a result. I would never build a custom house again after my experience. |

What kind of houseplan do you have? I mean.. do you have any *special* rooms that the average Joe wouldn't have because they're not as creative??? haha.. how many spas? I love designing new houses... I've designed three houses that I think are ideal for me :) just what I want. Architectory designs without all the maths is one of my hobbies :) Send us your pics when the house is done!! Looking forward to seeing the house. Sounds like it'll be a beaut!! |
