I think that it was Saddam making the speech, but the speech was generic in nature...so it is meaningless as to Saddam actually being alive or not.

Except he was praising the soldiers in various locations for fighting bravely and those locations did see some big and/or sustained battles..

That could have been predicted in advance I suppose but is he that devious? Who knows..

Yes, those battles for the port cities would be predictable, and there was absolutely no specifics in his speech about anything current, including the one he mentioned, since the beginning of the invasion.

The Iraqis don't love Saddam. If they are fighting the American forces, it's because Saddam has lied to them about our intentions.

the whole speech was comedy. He's 'honoring' some commander in Basra that fuckin' surrendered immediately. Saddam also commedated the 51st commanders. umm the 51st completely surrendered down to a man. A leader would not be commending someone who surrendered without a good fight.

He also said to the people of one place we are NOT yet occupying to be patient, as if the occupation would be over soon, when in reality he would have gone on and on about how they were standing up to the "infidels" and that they were heroes.

The places he mentioned were all obvious spots along the way of our forces coming at him from the only vantage points we had.

The "live" broadcast was just another tape obviously prerecorded.
