So far it has been nothing more than a video game controlled by satellites and laser guided precision bombs from 100's and 1000's of miles away. This is nothing..

A journalist source has told me that Iraq has embedded over 100,000 troops and militia in civilian and military clothes throughout Baghdad not to mention countless booby traps, ambushes and 'kill zones'. Iraq could care less about oil fields and the coalition rummaging through a barren desert of no significance.

The only way to take Baghdad will be by clearing it building to building. And that is not going to be accomplished with 'SMART' bombs or surgical strikes. This will be done by Marines going from building to building. And this is where we will be suffering 1000's of casualties.

For any doubters out there..just remember Mogadishu. That was just an area of 10 square miles. Baghdad is over 100 square miles, has nearly 6 Million residents and will be 1000 times more challenging and costly. Iraq's strategy could be seen as non-existent right now but they are just waiting for us. The real war has not even begun. Be prepared for the worse..god bless our troops.

Or, remember Kosovo, where we had to engage in similar "urban warfare" with a FAR more motivated enemy, and still maintained a 50:1 kill ratio.

i say lets kill em all. if it becomes that big of a problem, we should just kill all of them, i mean afterall we are going to import tons of equipment and workers to rebuild it all, we could just dispearse population back to baghdad, 50 years, no one will notice, care or remember

Yeah..that's what they thought when they created the state of Israel in 1948..they assumed they were dealing with a bunch of nomadic bedouins.

You must have skipped over the "any more than it has to."

If we were to carpet bomb bahgdad we would have virtually no support from any country and probably a few more that would come in to wage war with us. It isn't going to happen.

plus you got all sorts of goodies like smoke bombs and gas granates, i bet they could put the entire country to sleep and waste the bad guys one by one, lol.

Repatriation Ceremony in Vietnam

Remains of American GIs, killed in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, are carried by an honor guard to a plane at Hanoi's No Bai International Airport during a repatriation ceremony. The remains are flown to Hawaii to be identified.
