A journalist source has told me that Iraq has embedded over 100,000 troops and militia in civilian and military clothes throughout Baghdad not to mention countless booby traps, ambushes and 'kill zones'. Iraq could care less about oil fields and the coalition rummaging through a barren desert of no significance.
The only way to take Baghdad will be by clearing it building to building. And that is not going to be accomplished with 'SMART' bombs or surgical strikes. This will be done by Marines going from building to building. And this is where we will be suffering 1000's of casualties.
For any doubters out there..just remember Mogadishu. That was just an area of 10 square miles. Baghdad is over 100 square miles, has nearly 6 Million residents and will be 1000 times more challenging and costly. Iraq's strategy could be seen as non-existent right now but they are just waiting for us. The real war has not even begun. Be prepared for the worse..god bless our troops.
