This is why you don't buy Apple products..
?Error 53? fury mounts as Apple software update threatens to kill your iPhone 6 | Money | The Guardian They are knowingly bricking people's phones with no warning with one of their latest patches. If the phone was repaired by a 3rd party other than Apple, you may be in for a surprise. I've owned 2 Apple products and both have had the same shady type of BS from Apple. First was an iMac which they installed faulty video cards in. Apple ignored the issue and told people to buy $500 logic boards which didn't resolve the issue but they didn't get their money back, when the same symptoms came right back. It took 5 years, long after the computers were obsolete for them to admit there was a faulty video card issue. Next was the 1st gen iPad mini which had a wifi range of about 50ft. Apple used sub par wifi receivers and once again ignored the issue. They fixed the issue by releasing new OS which slows down the device trying to force people to upgrade. Morale of the story Apple sucks balls and does this shit over and over and dumbass fanboys still line up to buy their shit.. |

 | Have used nothing but Apple products from mac G-series, mac pro's, macbook pro's, iMac's and numerous phones for 20 years. One or two small problem instantly fixed at no charge. Apples great. I even keep a mack book pro in my saddlebag that has vibrated across the country, zero problems. The Sean Connery letter is hilarious . |

 | Apple is for stupid people. I tried the iPone and it so fucking simple (and lacking) that it seems as if they specifically designed it with mentally challenged people in mind. Now after that iPhone, I bought a Samsung S6 Edge. Compared to iphone this thing is from another fucking dimension. You can customize it so fucking much that it becomes a part if you. Android > chinese no name phones > piss > shit > cum > iPhone |

 | I would have even considered buying an iphone if they weren't so fucking greedy. Not only is the phone 2x more then an android phone with similar specifications - it uses some gay apple plug instead of microusb like EVERY OTHER FUCKING DEVICE IN THE WORLD. I would have 1 charger for my phone instead of the 20 laying all over my house.

 | Apple is awesome. Mac's are awesome, and iPhones are awesome! Yay Awesomeness! Here's the dillio, homies: I have iMacs going back to 2009, and a brand new Alienware PC running the latest windows. The iMac still kills it. For smartphones I have not looked at Android in a while but as my iPhone 5 is currently falling more and more out of date, I will probably check out the latest and greatest Samsung phones. Why Samsung? Their phones get great reviews of course, but I also own a Samsung Fridge & Samsung 55" TV and they both work perfectly. Somehow though I don't think it will compare to Apple, but hey I'm willing to give it a shot.

 | It is pretty clear that Apple wants to have the most secure phone in the world. It's whole current and future ecosystem is based on it. It's only failure here was to not pre-warn customers who have had the finger-scanning 'home button' repaired to the facts of what might happen before the update. But the short story is never take a update until it is proven for a month (at least a week). I don't volunteer to be a beta tester for something I need to rely on. I had set myself up to use and rely on the phone as little as possible as ios and app update were costing me more time than I had in making use of it. It's suppose to be servicing me not the other way around. I'm sure we will see the same kind of mess with android when they catch-up to Apples security. Ha... data security... what a oxymoron. Secure for who ? |

 | I had to buy a MacBook Pro recently and when I look at it, I hate that fucking thing. The $2800 I spent on it could have built a nice Hackintosh desktop, built to edit 4K video with ease. That said, it's a great piece of hardware. Just grossly overpriced. |

 | I stopped repairing phones because of the massive liability and error 53 is a real thing. After 500 repairs through iCracked I decided to move on to things that were more in my control. The touch ID has circuitry and I used a hot plate and a think prying tool. Even with the greatest care about 20% of the phones would act a little funky when I was doing my post checklist. I got tired of phones that acted up, I never broke anything but customers would not tell me something or something was on the verge of breaking. Business was alright but the time I invested made me a loser overall. You are completely at the whim of whatever the phone makers decide to design. Because phones are still subsidized, mostly, people don't realize that they are $600-1000+ a piece. All that liability to make $30-50 a gig doesn't pan out in the long run. Android may be nicer for repairs in leniency but the displays are 2-3x. Apple's lock down isn't going to work in the long run. I can't help but feel that the Apple car will be an utter failure, it should be when they act like this. It's a fucking computer phone, a car is a whole level up. I miss meeting all the customers. One thing, if you are in your early 20's and a fit, nice-looking man, fixing iPhones/iPads in a college town is the perfect job to be a sexual predator. Women love a man that can fix things. |

 | When I worked there, they always had stupid resolutions to problems like have customers buy logic boards or hard drives to basically guess and check the problem. I would get the higher ups mad all the time by sending free parts or for refunding $49 for a tech call that didn't go anywhere or required them to go to an Apple store..

Hi Crocket, I found this: Quote:
So think about it like this: You build a phone that lets you pay for things using your thumb print. You update the OS regularly. Someone else fixes your phone but somehow violates or breaks or disturbers to bumps the security feature or could possibly cause it to be less secure. Now you issue a new OS update, and now you see that some phones no longer work because of this new security issue, that was not caused by you, but instead caused by a 3rd party. Is it your responsibility to fix it? Personally I'm on the fence. I would hate to have my phone broken thanks to this. It would be nice to be able to roll-back to the previous OS, or to see Apple roll out a program to fix the issue at a reduced cost, but I don't think they would have to if they didn't want to.

Those Apple stores in malls are money makers and they want you coming there, a WSJ article even mentioned other mall stores despising them because people went there for the Apple store and not other stores, mall management in turn hikes prices up for everyone. People that use Apple tend to be more affluent, sheepleness aside. I was a good 3rd party (I made the phone as it was the day it was purchased), I didn't screw things up and I didn't jail break things. To be fair to Apple most 3rd parties are liabilities, using the cheapest parts and can cause massive liability to Apple for damage control when the customer is in the store, eating the cost of a shitty 3rd party, which I know they've done. Some people have great experiences at the Apple store. The repair business is also profitable for Apple, they have direct communication with manufactures and get the best rates. The profit has to be very high. When you are in Apple's store they can push more on you as well. Most won't buy more but there's a good chance 10%+ will. Waiting around for service does that. Error 53 is one of those things that could cause a sizable exodus. Xbox and Microsoft had to immediately change things from the always connected to the internet policy from a public outcry. Granted if you keep your phone in a nice case and have plenty of disposable income, this topic is of no concern to you. I just get worked up because I'm a tinker and have plenty of experience and information on Apple's shunning of 3rd parties.

It costs twice as Android but it's also twice faster (saves time) and less buggy (saves grey cells and hair loss). After two years it will be twice worth than any android phone. That micro USB is just a piece of cable that you'll get with the iPhone and you can plug its "old standard USB" side it in any other charger or usb port around (computer, samsung tv or some other phone charger) to charge your phone and on the other side of the cable is that new Apple connector that's the best thing invented since the USB itself - trust me on that. I've used latest Samsung androids (Galaxy S2, S3, S4). I had every of them day after global premiere. They were all shitty, slow as fuck, full of useless applications and nerve wrecking. My GF still has Galaxy S4 and when I have to use it - I get frustrated to a point that I want to brake it against the floor.

that day for apple is coming. Their phones no longer lead the market tech wise. they dont have curved glass. They dont provide good value, only rich people & conformists own it. when the conformists bail, when the brand is stale, apple will collapse. They have nothing new in the pipeline, & the phone is like 70% of revenue now. enjoy the temporary overpriced vogue you box yourself to. apple loves to fleece your money with endless updates & upgrades.

- Of course Apple stores are there to sell you Apple products. - Of course they want you to come in. - Of course they want you to buy more stuff while you are there. - Of course they want to fix your phone for you instead of a 3rd party. - Of course they would make it harder for 3rd party shops to fix your phone. <*< Let's examine the last point a bit. I have several Apple Mac's that are passed warranty as well as an iPhone. I have had to call for support a few times, but guess what - I never once had to pay for that support even though the warranty had expired (and no, I never bought Apple extended care either). Every time I've needed support, it was fast, direct, solved the issue, and totally free. If I had a machine or phone serviced by a 3rd party, I think it would be a completely different story. I'm not saying this as an Apple fanboy, I'm saying this that because as a company, I think Apple really, really, really, gets it right. They truly know how to earn repeat business.

If I buy a new car and I get it serviced by a 3rd party, I can void the warranty on the car or at the very least, that part of the car. And if I want to get my car fixed because of something that the 3rd party had done, I have to pay for that service. How can you say this makes no sense?

 | Was thinking the exact same thing. I'm on my 4th or 5th iPhone, out of all those phones I have only ever had one issue, my home button wasn't working all the time, it was buggy, this is a problem that developed after 10 months. I took it to the Apple store in Detroit (Canadian phone!) and they gave me a brand new phone there and then. Say what you will about Apple but their customer service is great. Yeah the stores are a bit nerdy and annoying at times but I never have to use them so whatever. |
