The right content.

The Internet like so many industries is dominated by sites with the right content. Google, Youtube, Twitter, Pornhub, etc. Totally dominate because the have the right content and have the right traffic. There is no question of "If I can get enough traffic." They have the traffic returning day after day.

This applies to porn. The big tubes are big because they have the right content to keep people returning every day. Good sites are good because they have the content people want and keep coming back for. This applies to blogs, the problem is writing something good enough to warrant a return visit. And there's the truth, the bad content sites get the traffic, but rarely hang onto it. They rarely have it. It's just browsing and moves on.

This can't be said for 50 Shades of Grey. We may think it's crap, those who buy it, again and again, don't. If they did think it was crap it would have only sold to a few once.

Yes, you can sell crap if you can get enough traffic. I could win the lottery if I bought enough tickets. When all it takes is the right one.

Anyone who disagrees is welcome to prove their point by buying my content and showing us how it works.

The problem for most people is creating the right content, traffic is far easier to produce for those on a limited budget and no content production skills. Even so for most webmasters traffic has to be free or very low costs to make any profit. Content is rarely free, someone has to pay for it. This applied pre Tubes.

There was also a short-sighted approach by many. I lost count of the number of people who told me they could make a fortune with my content if I would only give it to them for free and rely on rev share. The few I trusted shaved me, as they did other producers.

Or the people who assumed good content converted or rebilled the same as bad content. With rebuffs like, "I would love to pay that price, but I can't afford it with the stats I now get".

Even now people offer me rev share deals on my library. Around $2,000 for the lot. They want rev share. Are they not going to make me $2,000 or don't have the money? Sure they tell you they can sell anything if they get enough traffic and they know what they're doing. The problem is by not having $2,000 they prove they have neither the traffic nor know what they're doing.
