First thing to note is you may find your blog removed. If its full of affiliate links it may be detected, or someone may report it.

But to get hits is easy.

Search for blogs that are adult and follow as many people as you can.

You can follow up to about 200 people each day.

Tip: Follow people who repost posts. If you do they are more likely to re-post your posts. If your posts are reposted a lot, this will get you a lot of followers.

Set up a twitter account. Link your Tumblr account to it. This way each time you post on your Tumblr blog, it should post a link on twitter.

Link up to as many people as you can on twitter.

This should get you people to your Tumblr blog.

I've never had substantial Tumblr traffic. However, Yahoo Groups performs much better.
