Can someone please explain to me what host gator means by this?

Our customers are sporadically getting our emails. This is a serious issue for me. They are being returned. I sent email to host gator asking and this is their response

"This means that the server or gateway being used has sent such a large volume of mail that the server receiving mail has cut us off with a limitation. Once they see that we reduced our volume to their network, the block is removed. At this time there is nothing that we can do to remove these, as they are temporary blocks on the remote mail servers side. At this time we are working on resolving this issue across our network. Please rest assured that this is just a temporary issue and the email will resume working to their servers within a few hours. Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be more than happy to assist." The ONLY thing I use them for is to send mail, I do not have any design on the domain name etc. It is my only domain listed with host gator. Are they saying this is an issue with MY server and it doesn't have enough space or whatever I need to send mail, or with THEIR servers overall? |

Spend a bit more, get real service. Translation of the translation: Use a more reputable provider than HostGator if you take your business seriously. Are these opt-in email addresses that you're sending to?

Sounds like someone was using their network to spam, in turn, service providers block their network to prevent said spam.

This is a reason why service providers often limit email sending in their terms. Also, that issue is the reason why it is good practice to send your own newsletters slowly and during enough time. Like divided into one day, etc., depending the amount of newsletters to be sent. That issue might also be because of a hacked site that is turned as a spam bot; most spam today is sent like that; hacking sites/ servers. |

I do have a "real" dedicated host for my websites, but this is just for email so I was going cheap with it. I have been with host gator a couple years just using them for email and haven't really had an issue until recently. I was just wondering if it's because I am on a shared server with other people or if they were blocking MY domain specifically. |

having maintained very large search engine networks and 1000's of sites on my own domains, spread across numerous hosts, and having used most hosts that have existed in this industry, I can say with complete confidence that host gator is one of the absolute worst hosts in the hosting business. though they've changed ownership since i've used them last, they've been bought by a company thats bought out every shitty host with any customer base on the planet practically so I can't imagine its getting better.

I use Ynot for my mail outs and LOVEEEEE them. Is Campaigner the same thing? What do you get for $20.00? I pay 100.00 a month.

This is something my operators use for their personal marketing. YES it would be much better to use GMAIL and that would be my preference because then it never gets blocked, but I have no control over it and that bothers me. If an operator leaves, I want to make it as hard as possible for her to TRY and take my customers with her. Of course it happens, but they always come back cause my company is the absolute best. =) I tried setting up gmail accounts FOR them, and then using that with my google apps account, but for some reason it wasn't successful. I think I had issues getting it into google apps maybe. Either way, today I will move away from host gator. |

I've noticed sites that I have on a hostgator account now have a lot of broken internal links, I wonder what happened... Did they do massive overhaul on general permissions on some of the servers (some of these are wordpress sites).

Hosting a domain with no adult references for just email purposes was the solution, and if host gator didn't suck so bad right now, we just wouldn't be having this conversation. But since we are....does gmail offer a service where you can make multiple gmail accounts and maintain control over them if an employee leaves? I do have a google apps account that I use for my business. |

i think gmail can handle almost everything .... but i don't know what the requirements ? it's possible to add up to 5 receiving accounts , for sending few more however right now the original sender might be visible - inside the headers info .

We use our main domain name for each other and to discuss business, and then we use the set up domain hosted elsewhere for communication with customers. But this is all in our gmail set up. My requirements are simply that I control the email address when a person no longer works here, but something mainstream enough that it doesn't automatically get marked as spam. I have tried making personal gmails, and then putting them into the google apps gmail for them as pop account, then the worker never actually logs in to gmail and technically wont have the password but it just did not work the way it was supposed to. Email was not being delivered/received or something to that effect doing it this way. [email protected] would be my preferred method of email rather than using a domain at all. But if a girl unexpectedly gets fired, or leaves then I can't shut the account down making a auto reply directing customers to a new girl who is similar to old girl. ALSO yes the original headers are an issue, especially for girls who play multiple characters. So if she sends from amanda, it may say, originally sent from Kelly |

Even with Gmail you are going to run into deliverability issues, which in any line of business, is not something that can be afforded when it can be avoided for a small fee.

It's going to cost you a little money (maybe take it out of your workers commissions) but it's a much better solution and your deliverability rate will increase. Try an MS Exchange box: https://products.office.com/en-us/ex...xchange-online There are many different providers so feel free to shop around until you find somebody that you like. Give it a whirl. Thank me later.

Check your domain and see how many other domains are using the same IP address, most likely on shared hosting like hostgator you will find a very large #, easily 1000 or more. You can guarantee that with all those domains there's gonna be spammers and infected sites being hijacked for spam. You are never going to have reliable deliverability that way.

I just started using google apps for business, it's fantastic. $10 per license, Unlimited storage per user with 5 licenses or more, ($5 per license if you don't need the unlimited storage) so you can ditch dropbox, since you won't need it. Each license can use up to 30 email aliases, so [email protected] can also send and receive from [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] etc. and those aliases are very handy, they can be added and removed very quickly without adding and removing licenses. Users can log in through the regular gmail interface or use a client like mozilla or outlook. You can also do a free trial for 30 days and see if it works for you, personally I think it's amazing, well worth the money.

However, with google apps like I said before, it did USED to tell you, when an alias was used who the original sender was. So if I sent from an alias of kelly it would tell you that it was originally sent from sandy (google apps user) in the headers, which sucks for those curious clients who tries to figure out who plays who. I will say though, I love google apps. =) In any event thanks boys. Always happy for your advice. ![]() |

For instance if I have a customer service rep who does some affiliate support then Jenny@ might have aliases cs@ and affiliatesupport@. Either way it's no big deal if people know she's Jenny, I just need the alias so I can say "for support contact cs@" instead of "contact jenny" cause who knows if Jenny decides to quit or whatever, I can just make those aliases someone else's and don't have to rewrite all my pages and canned replies just cause Jenny's gone.
