Try signing up via one of Googles many service. It's worked in the past.

Does the Burner app work with texts? If so that's a nice option.

Actually, I think they are trying to group multiple accounts ... We could catch the fake nicks by requiring "account recovery" mobile sms for GFY nicknames.

I just didn't want to have everything under one account. Since they are monopolists and are willing to shut down accounts without precise explanation, I just wanted to have different accounts and not to put all under 1.

You need an Android phone. Follow these steps:
1. Backup all your data, most importantly SMS and Contacts.
2. Backup the installed apps on the external memory.
3. Remove the memory card, so that there is no data about your current account left in the phone.
4. FACTORY RESET the phone.
5. When the phone restarts after the factory reset, it asks for a Gmail email id. You can either use your existing email, or create a new one.
6. Create a new Gmail ID. The signup process wouldn't ask for a mobile number.

By the time these companies realize their security is amuck,
They get more personal info from you to fix it.
Well, a hacker can now get my phone number, email, mothers maiden name, my best friends name, the name of my favorite teacher, brand of my first car, the school I graduated, my fingerprint, my retina scan.

What's next a DNA profile ?
They need to make their lack of security their problem and not additional problems for me the next time they have a breach.

Where is the accountability for my personal info ?

there are some sites where you can get a temp virtual number. Ive used it a while ago and it works, otherwise just get a new prepaid simcard for a couple of euros / dollars and use it only for verifying. I just don't want to give them so much personal info under the guise of "security".

Yep, that's the whole issue.
They can't be trusted with too much info because even if it's not hacked it gets "leaked" by auto-merging accounts.

I did with temporary number,and also went for new sim cards. Solution is simple. Take android device without SIM (tablet), go through some proxy (tunnel bear) and simply add new google account. When asked is it new or existing,pick new.

that was all.

next time your info are sold to foreign governments / criminals etc.
