I haven't read anything yet, but I'm guessing it's because of Alphabet/abc.xyz and having things look like preschool letter blocks..

I don't love it, I don't hate it. It's sort of 'meh' to me. When they modernized the logo by replacing their mark with flat colors a couple years ago, I thought they were gonna stick with that for some time to come. I guess not. I'm not a huge fan of the colorful G or the colorful microphone icon either.. I prefered a single color for the G and a the current monochrome neutral color of the mic.

Oh well, I don't mind the change. The typeface is a bit plain to me but I still think it's fine overall.

It's a transitional logo. The final new logo looks very clean. They have been on a massive (re)design roll lately.

Google is making bold moves on many fronts, I expect them to take their online domination to the next level.

I don't want to know about the Duggars or Kardashians, but I see short headlines along the bottom of the search engine screens. Those headlines give me more information than I want in my head. I wish I never knew about Kanye West or any of that.

I believe the main reasoning was that the font was outdated.

Their new logo goes in line with most logos nowadays. I suppose you could call it simplification.

google come a long way. i remember back then when yahoo used to pimp google by disclosing on the bottom of their pages that their search engine is powered by google and maybe by some other search engines too. google quickly became known and popular, the rest is history.

but the more i watch it the more it likes to me (in comparisson to the old ones)
i saw the video and has been great to see how it has evolved
think that the old one was old fashionated.. that font was to "poor" for such a big big company..
good idea to put all 4 color on the G and the voice icon, so we can be aware that they are looking at us all the time....
