Married webmistresses please help!
As I take the plung into married life I need to know what you use in a pinch to clean a very old diamond ring. I don't have time to get any special cleaners and I know that windex isn't my only option.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. |

Yeah toothpaste works good on old silver and most tarnishs. Use an old toothbrush.

Hi MaxDent, go to your local shopping mall. Many jewellers will offer free cleaning and appraisals. Good luck!

The ring has two parts, the ring with diamonds and the ring guard. Does toothpaste really work? |

Okay, I'm not a webmistress but...
Take it to a pro and get it buffed. Should take less than a couple of hours, and the ring looks awesome. My wife took our rings to our jeweler before the wedding to get them done. Only thing is, you're not supposed to do that sort of cleaning very often becuase it will wittle away your metal. I hope this helps.

I know I sound like a nin.com/poop on this thread. Of course I tried rushing it to a jewler but of the 10 I called they all need like a week to clean it. I guess it involves sending it out to Willy Wonka and having the ompa-loomps work on it. *sigh*

If nothing else, use a small amount of toothpaste on the diamond part and an old toothbrush, then buff it dry and clean. it'll shine and be beautiful. It really does work. |

i've never heard of a jeweler that had to send something out to clean it, even Sears jewelry department will clean them on the spot.
