FL has officially become a police state

Im still trying to sort this out because Ive found very little info online about it other than a few old news reports and some basic ACLU reports about specfic cities but not highways.

Anyway a few weeks ago I noticed on i10 they have installed cameras on the actual highway about every 2 to 3 miles. Added to this from Tallahassee west (maybe east too but didnt notice until Tallahasse ) they have installed cameras and license plate readers at every entry and exit of i10.

This means they are taking pictures of cars and people driving them as well as tracking license plates. It gets worse.. I was on i75 a few days later and they were setting cameras there aswell.

Today on i95 south of Jacksonville I saw the same types of cameras as i10 has but also pulled off a exit in Palm Coast to see cameras and license plate readers at that exit. I flipped the fucker off for good measure..

Also let it be noted that these are not red light cameras. These are 2 sets of cameras on poles right on the exit that are about 5-6ft in height aimed right at your car as you drive onto a exit or entry ramp on the freeway..

The only place Ive seen worse than this was Texas which literally has red light cameras at every fucking back woods hillbilly hick town in that state. One of the reasons I hate that state, because its also a police state.. Taxation by citation and just way too many fucking cops..

The best part of this, is I've never voted to spend tax dollars for tne state to track me or anyone else. I ve never seen any discussion by the state govt about doing this. They just up and did it and have invaded my privacy as well as every other person who travels on Florida's roads..

Has anyone seen anything about this? Ive seen a few in Georgia as well but nothing even close to how many have popped up so quickly in FL.

Most of the major highways around Portland have cameras on them. I used to live right down town in Portland. It was about 3 blocks to a grocery store. One day (this was about 7-8 years ago) I counted the visible cameras as I walked to the store and counted about a dozen different cams.

It won't be long before you won't be able to go anywhere in public without being captured on camera.

I understand cameras in major cities for traffic related issues, but this is not that. This is 100% sole purpose of tracking people by taking their pictures as they drive along with the license plate that they can use to match with your drivers license info. They can very easily track individual movement with this, because they have license plate data along with your picture. Tracking people is the only purpose for tracking license plates.

That is a basic violation of privacy. This is tracking individual cars not traffic conditions.

welcome to los angles, and the surrounding area, the cops will even ask for your cell number so you can be tracked. in a seriousness a 12 year old kid could figure out how to track anybody any where... so I'm pretty sure the cops have it sorted out...

now unless your wennie wagging or fucking kids or some other lame illegal shit... why worry about it?

I am tracked by my utilities and isp and cell phone while at home and out of the house by cell phone and car satellite and every camera I drive by, and in my case by fucking dog hair every where I go

And Republican run states are putting up cameras all over because they love our freedom so much? Again its not like these are cameras you see in major cities. These are at every exit/entry point with the sole purpose of taking your picture and your license plate along with time stamps. These plate readers dont need people to sort out the numbers its done automatically so just with a bit of code and the right program they can automaticly sort every picture of you and your car into a data base that can easily track your movements.

Add this to FL police who are known to be using sting ray cell phone trackers and its 100% invassion of privacy and tracking people with out warrants.

I HATE the police state shit because it dehumanizes people and makes everyone not a cop, or military, or politician, or celebrity, just cattle citizens to boss around and milk for cash

Australia is nothing like this. You rarely ever see a cop anywhere, ever, and they are submissive to citizens they are not military cops beating you down dominating you.

They are installing cameras on freeways so that makes Florida a police state?

This doesn't make Florida a police state. It makes it about ten to fifteen years behind the times.

I lived in Queensland on Isle of Capri. How long has it been like that in Victoria? I wonder if it's the same in Queensland? That would really suck I really liked the chill vibe there and have been thinking of moving back.

Yes but "legally" they can not track cellphones with out warrants and if they do, they can't use it in court. Cops in FL and else where have still been violating people's rights by tracking with stingrays but every case that's been found out has been thrown out of court, because the company making the stingrays (Harris corp) will not let cops take those cases to court because then we would have court documents to see how much info is being tracked by them with out warrants.

Harris Corp has literally made police depts agree that if they use a Stingray system to catch someone, then if its found out the DA has to drop the charges against the person to keep info about these systems out of the courts.

The Austin bomber a few months ago was caught by sting ray use, but they sorted out the court issue by making sure to kill him...

It does however confirm cops in Texas are also illegally tracking cell phones with the stingrays systems.

For the record the way they caught the Austin bomber is the police have illegal stingray systems set up around the city.

Cell phones will try to connect to these systems because it acts like a cell tower. Once your cell connects they have your location data, GPS info and a time stamp. (Just like these license plate trackers)

The way they caught the bomber, was they looked back at all the saved data to see if any single cell number was at more than 2 bombing locations.

Due to tracking and storing this data they easily matched the numbers of the suspect at more than one bombing location, which is how they caught him so fast.

Now in the case of a terrorist suspect it's great, we are all a bit safer.. However cops are illegally using these systems for much lesser crimes and violating rights of people which is protected by our constitution. Much less is they are not disclosing this in the court of law when they charge someone with a crime. They are convicting people while violating their Consitutional rights which means these cases have the potential to be thrown out of court if defendants later find out a string ray was illegally used.

Meaning rapists, murderers, drug dealers could be let out because cops did illegal searches that were violations of our consitutional rights.

I'm not against the use of systems like this in a legal manner but the way cops are using them violates our constitutional rights because they are just blanket tracking people and accessing that data with out warrants or court orders.

the only thing that may stop them is cryptography/ offline/ no phones/etc ;-)

Pretty much all govts will have access to this kind of tech if they dont already. Example your govt has been using stingray type devices in the US around Washington. This is why some of those "diplomats" of yours were kicked out of the US.

Dont worry though, Im sure our guys do it as well in Moscow..

Cell phones will try to connect to these systems because it acts like a cell tower. Once your cell connects they have your location data, GPS info and a time stamp. (Just like these license plate trackers)

The way they caught the bomber, was they looked back at all the saved data to see if any single cell number was at more than 2 bombing locations..
the only problem is LOL that It didnt actually stop the terror act, just caught the guy afterwards LOL...
so once again their logic about "surveill to protect" is false.

Is this highway a Toll highway? They could just be updating their technology.

Here between Montreal and Laval there is a bridge owned by a private company called A25. Cameras are installed that take a picture of your license plate as you cross the bridge. Connected to some database somewhere, they determine your plate number and mail you an invoice to pay for crossing the bridge.

For frequent users of the bridge like me, a transponder is installed on the windshield. (I think it uses RFID but I'm not sure). Transponder users get a 60% discount on use of the bridge and get charged to their credit card. (I get free use of the bridge with no cost whatsoever because my car is electric).

A lot of those cameras are for the highway admin to see how the traffic is moving in that area. Some places you can put in a location and look at the cameras yourself to see if there's a backup.

Wow, so Crockett actually makes sense sometimes! Amazing!

Seriously Crockett, i agree with most of what you're saying. This tech is being over-used on highways and the locations stored, to track people's movements. The flip side is that yes, it can help catch stolen cars or people driving without insurance. Here's the solution:

NO Photo Camera License Plate Cover | Flexible|**Original**Beware Of Fake Ones

I'm not against the use of systems like this in a legal manner but the way cops are using them violates our constitutional rights because they are just blanket tracking people and accessing that data with out warrants or court orders.
man you are just going to hate this!! watched an interview with the inventor of Lasik.. he said that a camera can read your iris an identify you in a car going by at 35 miles per hour. this was an interview r from YEARS AGO!!
