That's all.

I don't really care if some of you didn't listen to Trump's full announcement speech where he was CLEARLY talking about ILLEGAL immigration. Cherry picking that he said "Mexico is sending" when he clearly trying to say that Mexico was trying to push their criminals & undesirables into the U.S. illegally is just your own bias.

What I was pointing out, and it should concern everyone...is that the media is SHAPING the "news" and public opinion instead of reporting it.

I gave you a perfect example in the original post.

And instead of that being the point of discussion...the thread turns into yet another one of everyone telling us how they feel about Trump and politics and Republicans VS Democrats.

Bad news...nobody here (or anywhere) really gives a flying fuck about how any of us "feel" about anything.

But the media's hypocrisy and double standards and pushing political agenda's is something we should ALL worry about.
A free press is crucial to a Democracy.

And when we have a press with an agenda, it's not healthy for our society.

it's no different here, some things or people are not spoken about (even edited out), some things and people are overly and almost hysterically spoken about etc. it's absolutely ridiculous.

I agree Robbie.

Both parties are scared as hell of this guy, because he has absolutely nothing to lose and he speaks the truth. Plus he can't be bought and is spending his own money.

This is why the media is going after him with a vengeance.

His biggest downfall is his style of delivery, but that's also his biggest strength, because he makes waves, and that makes headlines.

And he doesn't waver or apologize for what he says, unlike his waffly opponents, who don't seem to stand for much of anything.

As time goes on I move closer and closer in his direction.

And I've never voted anything except Democratic. I do like some things about Hillary, however I'm not sure she'll do much more than Obama did.

I also like Bernie Sanders. However some of his ideas are a bit extreme and I'm afraid with him we'd have even more of a welfare state.

Trump speaks the truth and makes sense.

While I don't like all of his ideas, I like a lot of them.

He'd certainly upset the applecart and maybe that's what we need.

Both parties? You are lost. Democrats don't really care about the shit show at all. Now Republicans are scared to death because he's killing the slim chance they had of taking the White House.

Trump speaks lies, misrepresentations, idiocy and dumb. I'm sure he says some truth at times too, it just doesn't matter.

Robbie's premise that the media is out to derail him because of all this is laughable. They are reporting on him because he's such an idiot that he's constantly making headlines. The gotcha games they play are the same they have been playing for decades now so nothing new there either.

Media makes sure you will have to choose between 2 career politicians (= corrupt liars) who have families tied to former presidents. Media gets informed by the white house propaganda machine. Trump doesn't fit their mold, it is very likely that he is hard to manipulate to be just a puppet, so they make sure he is destroyed in said media.

The sheep will do the rest.

So you didn't read what I wrote about Anderson Cooper interviewing Trump... and apparently you didn't see what he did that I described because you didn't watch that interview apparently...and yet you can still come to the conclusion that what I am saying is "laughable" even though I am only telling you what I watched?

Weird to me how people process things and come up with their conclusions. To me it's black and white what the media is doing. To you, it's just "business as usual" by the media.

In the end...BOTH of our viewpoints show that our media is doing a disservice to our society by not reporting the news and instead trying to shape events.
As I said earlier, a free press is essential to a democracy.

What we have now (and have had for a long time as I also pointed out) is a press that does not do any investigative reporting, but instead takes the daily handout from the White House press room and reports it as gospel.

With a press like we have now...the entire Watergate scandal would have never happened and Pres. Nixon would have never resigned. There would have been no Vietnam war protests.

In other words...exactly the way the federal govt. wants it to be.

Trump released his financials before any other candidate and ahead of the time he was supposed to. And surprise! He's worth over $10 billion dollars.
I've read plenty of posts on GFY saying that he would NEVER release his financials because he's so "poor" LOL!

And now he has passed Bush and is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination.

Might not last, but it does show that people are getting sick and tired of politicians and their constant lying and stealing.
A guy with enough money that he CAN'T be bought is starting to woo voters to him.

On a side note...I watched Trump adviser Michael Cohen on CNN this morning.

The chick news anchor was pretty hostile and kept saying one unflattering thing after another and asking Cohen how Trump feels about it.

At one point she said that Jeb Bush was quoted saying that he didn't want to be associated with the "vitriol" that Donald Trump is "spewing"

Cohen didn't miss a beat...he looked right at the camera and said: "And Donald Trump doesn't want to associated with the Bush family and their failed administrations that have cost our country so much"

That was kinda cool! lol

Anyway, my point is...yeah the media has spent time trying to put it in everyone's mind that Trump isn't as rich as he says. Turns out he's RICHER.
They are doing everything they can think of to tear him down daily.

And yet...for once, the people aren't buying it.

I'm not suggesting anyone vote or not vote for Trump. I'm not going to.
But I am saying that the general public showing that they are paying attention and not just slavishly believing the crap that media outlets (Fox News, CNN, MSNBC) throw at them is a good sign.

Trust me.. Democrats or those whom don't associate with the far right, (ie independents whom lean left) are not scared in the slightest of Trump. We are just enjoying the circus which is the Republican center stage..

The only people whom are scared of Trump are the GOP and other Republican candidates.. The media and everyone else is just treating him like he is presenting himself and that's just another crazy whacko the likes of Sarha Palin..

I mean FFS he was one of the guys heading up the Obama Birther conspiracy.. He is a fruit loop whom lives in his own little bubble.

Ironically 10 years ago, he supported things like nationalized healthcare system where everyone was covered (as did many top republicans before they all went bat shit crazy) He even supported women's right to choose on abortion..

Then just like half the Republicans on this board, he went bat shit crazy soon as Obama was elected and ran off to extreme right lala land.

scared is another way of saying "taking seriously". and the democrat hopeful(s) are most certainly taking Trump seriously. let's face it though, y'all got Hills and that's it. your party won't let anyone else get some, any, spotlight.

Something else.. You guys act as if he says what ever he wants no holds bar, but that's actually BS.. The shit he is saying is shit meant to cater to the far right. trump used to be more sensible, just like Mitt Romeny was also much more sensible as Gov of Ma..

Then the right wing went whacko, so now all these Republican candidates have to cater to the fringe or they get hammed from the right as being "too liberal". It's really a no win situation for the right.

Example, Romeny's biggest mistake was him distancing himself from Romenycare. He should of owned that shat and said he'd make it for the whole US. Instead he wimpered away due to calls from the right of socialism and he tried to appease the far right.

I really wish some "sane" moderate Republicans would just step up to the center and start acting like actual fiscal consertives and tell the extreme right to pound sand. Trump had the ability to do that, with all the money he has, but instead he just jumped onto the same crazy train the rest of the Republican candidates are riding and went even more extreme..

Yep, no doubt about it that Trump went off the freakin' rails with that "birther" shit.

It shocked me when he did it and I like what he has to say about job growth and trade deals designed to get jobs back but that overshadowed anything else.

It's what took him out of the game in 2012.

Seems like it's always some stupid ass issue that has nothing to do with anything at all that gets the Republican Presidential candidates in trouble.

And there is always the "abortion card".
That's all a reporter has to do with any Republican candidate and they fall for the bait every time.

Previously, Trump has said he didn't agree with abortions, but he thinks a woman has the right to choose. This is the correct answer IMO, but something tells me he likely will be against it totally this go around the way he's acting.

Yes, he has said quite recently that as he's gotten older he has changed from pro abortion to anti abortion.

That's not even an issue I want to discuss though. I'm pro-choice...but I'm having some serious moral issues with any kind of late-term stuff for sure.

Trump however is now against all abortion except rape and mother's life endangered. Too socially conservative to ever get my vote.

But like I said...no matter WHO the nominee is...the media, in the end will play the "abortion card".

Quite frankly, abortion is actually one of the last things on the minds of 99.99% of people. We are all needing leadership that can help bring our economy back strong. That's the bottom line.

But as you can see from the whole "Mexican" controversy...it's the last thing that the media will ask any of these candidates. It will ALWAYS be stupid ass social issues that a President doesn't even control.

It's the last thing on everyone's mind, until it's their daughter whom dies going to an illegal abortion back alley clinic, because it's illegal. Consertives love to deny abortions, but then are the first to bitch about welfare moms and so on..

It's like the old saying goes.. consertives are all about protecting babies, right up till the point they are born.. Then it's boot strap it and fuck off..

I'm pretty sure that the old days of back alley abortions with a coat hanger wouldn't need to happen in this day and age...but yeah, women would be forced to go to doctors who were willing to do shit illegally. And that is never a good situation.

if by some miracle he can beat the GOP machine & be the nominee, he would DESTROY hillary in new york & give that giant blue state to the repubs in the general. that alone could decide the election.

Now it's gotten even more disgraceful.

The Huffington Post have now stated that they will no longer cover Trump's candidacy in the political section but will instead only cover it in their "entertainment" section because Trump is a "sideshow".

Forget about Trump (my OP was never really about him)...what the hell is happening when reporters decide for us what politics is or isn't?

This is blatantly proving my point. The media and the 2 Party system are hand-in-hand force feeding us our leaders.

I hope people see this and punish the Huffington Post for this action.
Again...I don't give a damn about Trump, this is about the media DECIDING the news instead of simply reporting it.

You are missing that he has no idea as to what is a fact. He was a birther, then moved to wanting college transcripts. He has a history of pushing a bad hand. I do not see how someone like that would help the country if elected.

That shouldn't matter. He is making a legitimate bid for the position. You may not like him or his stances, neither do I. But this is about a major news agency making a mockery of a legitimate presidential candidates bid for the wh, and I'm with robbie. It's fucking outrageously wrong.

Then that is your right to NOT vote for him and to find a candidate that you believe is the right man to be President.

The media however...shouldn't be trying to sway people to not vote for someone. They are supposed to report the news. Not try to shape it to what they want.

If you think Trump is a clown...then don't vote for him. I'd say that from the posts you make, he was never even under consideration by you for your vote.
Me either.

But for the public to not be pissed at the media for what they are doing is wrong. The media is not supposed to be trying to tell us what to think. They are supposed to report the news. Plain and simple.

We're now living in a time when corporations are legally people, Gay people can legally marry, unlimited campaign financing, weed is legal & the media has an opinion. Strange days indeed.

Except for the gay legal marriage thing...you just described the United States for most of it's existence (until the 1930's when pot became "illegal")

My theory is that the GOP is encouraging Trump so that everyone else will look rational and viable by comparison.

  • The decline in crime rates was not just national, but also occurred in border cities and other cities with large immigrant populations such as San Diego, El Paso, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Miami.
  • According to a 2008 report from the conservative Americas Majority Foundation, crime rates are lowest in states with the highest immigration growth rates.
  • From 1999 to 2006, the total crime rate declined 13.6 percent in the 19 highest-immigration states, compared to a 7.1 percent decline in the other 32 states.
  • In 2006, the 10 ?high influx? states?those with the most dramatic, recent increases in immigration?had the lowest rates of violent crime and total crime.
  • Nationwide, Immigrants are Five Times Less Likely to be in Prison Than the Native-Born
  • A 2007 study by University of California, Irvine, sociologist Rubén G. Rumbaut, found that for every ethnic group, without exception, incarceration rates among young men are lowest for immigrants, even those who are the least educated. This holds true especially for the Mexicans, Salvadorans, and Guatemalans who make up the bulk of the undocumented population.
  • The 3.5 percent incarceration rate for native-born men age 18-39 was five times higher than the 0.7 percent rate for immigrant men in 2000{Figure 5}. Among male high-school dropouts, 9.8 percent of the native-born were behind bars in 2000, compared to only 1.3 percent of immigrants.
  • Research in New Jersey and California Found Immigrants Less Likely to be in Prison

And on and on and on.

So not only was Trump making an idiotic point he did it in the most hilariously stupid way.

Please know, I do not expect you to read, comprehend or give a shit about what I posted above. That is there for those with some common sense so they can have a more well informed opinion vs listening to nuts ramble on the subject incessantly.

They are juking the stats. Haven't you ever seen The Wire? They change the definitions and fool people like yourself.
