TFT monitor versus headaches

Working behind the computer a bit much has caused me to get extremely annoying headaches almost every day, and I was wondering about what to do against it.
Would getting a TFT instead of a CRT help? I've stayed away from TFTs until now because I don't really like the way they look, but this crap has to end.

Thanks!

are you sitting to close to your monitor dude?

I got a 19" and a 17", do at least 12 hours a day and never get headaches.

But I do eat 3 packs of nurofen a day

I'm not really sitting very close to my monitor, maybe still too close though. Have a big jar of ibuprofen next to my computer which is getting empty way too quickly

Your monitor should be beyond arms reach - 4 foot minimum

Everything looks a bit too pixelated on them in my opinion. CRTs give a smoother image.

my headache's were over after getting a regular crt monitor that supports 85+ Hz. refresh rate...

i think slow refresh rate is the number one reason for monitor headaches..

also, dont sit in front of the pc when the room is dark.. that also stresses the eyes

There's your problem. You need better pills. Try some Codein or Vallium. Those headches will disapear in no time.

I've got a 17" and 15" TFT and don't have any problems whatsoever anymore. My old CRT used to give me slight headaches. I've found that I really prefer natural room light and even working in the dark is fine as long as the brighness is turned down.

All you actually have to do is get away from the computer more often and you should also have an eye exam. And forget about nurofen or ibuprofen. You can become addictive and than get the headaches because of them.

Oh ok, thought you meant the physical look.

Unfortunately, getting away from the computer more often is mnot really an option... I have 20/20 vision though.
And, without the ibuprofen I probably would've jumped out of the window or something already

What monitor are you using?

TFT monitors are supposed to be better than CRT monitors. Maybe since TFT monitors are brighter, it's causing headaches for you.
