When my wife decided to convert from her Hinduism to my Judaism so that our son would be born Jewish, I told her that she was crazy. I had never asked her to take on my faith. Who wants to volunteer to be a part of the smallest and most hated minority on the planet?

She went ahead with it anyway. 18 weeks of classes and then did her mikvah in the ocean off of the beach.

I love how Jews don't prospect for additional members. That right there makes them a billion times more respectable than other religious sects.

I had a great-grandfather who was Jewish, and from what I know of the religion--which is quite a lot--it seems a lot more practical and less annoying than many other religions. The only thing I don't like is the insistence on circumcision of male babies. Apart from being sexual mutilation, just like female circumcision, the children are not able to consent to it.
