I just bought a NES
But i never got it to work, it wouldn't read the games and just gave me a blank flashing screen. Man that blank screen brought back lotsa memories, i even blew hard in the cartridges! It was great but i had to return it.
I'm very sad now ![]()

How funny dildozer!! I see the old NES and SNES machines at gamestop for like $40 bucks. Oh how nice it would be just to play a little Zelda to bring back memories. |

Few people bought the NES rerelease.
I did. Its awesome, smaller and all the games play. It was like 40 bucks on clearance years ago. <img src=http://w3.one.net/~boland/games/pics/nes.jpg border="1"> the controllers are better too, instead of the old square ones, these are rounded. nothing beats a top loader for old carts. ![]()

it was when everyone was throwing their NES away, thats why it was like 30 bucks.
I said fuck that, busted out Final Fantasy 1, Dragon Warrior, Faxanadu, and paid 30 bucks. i dont recall what console was 'hot' but everyone wanted the SNES or something else, so I picked one up. now all my games work, and its smaller. just like thr rerelease of the PSX. smaller, plays the old games, but then everyone wanted the PS2, so who bought the rerelease of the PSX? not as many, same thing applies, no one bought the NEs rerelease either. ![]()

you guys did it the girly way. ;)
i did it the nerdy way. get the chip out and use an eraser and erase the cart heads. its a layer of black film that bulds up on the chip and since its slanted downward you cant really see the stuff. When you pop the chip out you can clearly see where to 'erase' comes right off and plays like new. theres a secret of the day for you. this only worked on some games until they started using the star bolts. or if dad had cool tools ;) ![]()

I used to take some q-tips, and dip them in a 50/50 solution of rubbing alcohol/water, and rub the cartridge connectors.
Worked really well for me. |

haha, I still have my original NES, complete with super mario bros/duck hunt, Mike Tyson's puch out, NHL hockey, blades of steal, double dragon, contra, etc. Anyone want to buy it? I'll only consider offers of $40,000 or higher.

I was reading about this a while ago - apparently what goes in the old school NESes (you know, the ones where you have to insert the cartridge only a little, blow on it, etc...) - is the connector inside the NES..
Apparently that connector is still for sale (on the web), and doesn't even require any soldering or anything - it just pops right off and the replacement pops right on.. I guess what happens is the pins bend and get dirty and such.. They can be reconditioned as well, but the connector is only about $5 Cheers, Backov
