One could argue that MMA style fighting goes back to the Roman times. Also, Wrestling was an Olympic sport before boxing.

boxing also used to go to 50-100 rounds +
and rounds didn't end until there was a knockdown, now that i think about it. So a single round could have went 15-20 minutes.

Glen, maybe you should study more upon the subject before chiming in with your opinion. MMA is 3 rounds except for Championship fights. Deaths in MMA weren't commonplace, and still aren't. There were no deaths in early MMA, back when it was called NHB. Olympic Boxing or Boxing itself is only one part of MMA.

Anthony, as in me? My fighting days are over. I'm just training in BJJ for my black belt, and training the next generation. My son has been training Jiu Jitsu since 9, collegiate wrestler, and wants to fight. He's also done work for me in the past, so if anyone wants to fight him, he's 6'2" 225lbs. Lulz

Ill take him on! I havent fought competitively in like 10 years, but im in great shape and still got my skills.
