i went with Samsung
lowest failure rates on the market, but you have to pay extra money for this.. generally samsungs are about 20% more expensive than same capacity from other brands |

I heard u get better performance out of larger drives, depending on what controller it uses. On some, size doesnt affect speed.

I am getting by with a pretty small SSD on a new AMD A Series Black Edition 8 Core but I have seen some 250 GB SSDs on sale for around $120 the past few weeks ...
This one looks better than mine -- the read speed is a lot faster in 10 months: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...692&isNodeId=1 Fast as hell with the o/s on the SSD ... Boot up time rocks. Code:
barry@deathstar9:~$ df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 106039400 21572332 79057532 22% / none 4 0 4 0% /sys/fs/cgroup udev 8116500 4 8116496 1% /dev tmpfs 1632872 1556 1631316 1% /run none 5120 0 5120 0% /run/lock none 8164348 268 8164080 1% /run/shm none 102400 44 102356 1% /run/user /dev/sda1 497696 3428 494268 1% /boot/efi /dev/sdd1 961301832 342239632 570207776 38% /media/barry/SATA4 /dev/sdc1 961301832 90683948 821763460 10% /media/barry/SATA2 /dev/sdb1 961301832 4325664 908121744 1% /media/barry/41de29d5-4133-44db-aa35-058488afa3f0 |

The Samsung 850 Pro is the hot shit right now. Newest technology and a ten year warranty.

that's what i just got. you can't beat a 10 year warranty. i've read that the bigger the ssd the faster it is though it isn't really noticable beyond 256gb. this is my first time using ssd on a computer its great so far.
