time to purchase my first SSD

What brands are the best today for a desktop computer ?

Looking for a 180 gb disk and latest generation

Performance vs price - so best performance for the buck

Which one should I get ?

Why do you need 180 GB? 100 GB is often enough for the OS.
But a smaller one but faster for the same price. ;)

Best upgrade you can buy - You will be blown away...

i went with Samsung

lowest failure rates on the market, but you have to pay extra money for this.. generally samsungs are about 20% more expensive than same capacity from other brands

I heard u get better performance out of larger drives, depending on what controller it uses. On some, size doesnt affect speed.

I am getting by with a pretty small SSD on a new AMD A Series Black Edition 8 Core but I have seen some 250 GB SSDs on sale for around $120 the past few weeks ...

This one looks better than mine -- the read speed is a lot faster in 10 months: SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...692&isNodeId=1

Fast as hell with the o/s on the SSD ... Boot up time rocks.

that's what i just got. you can't beat a 10 year warranty. i've read that the bigger the ssd the faster it is though it isn't really noticable beyond 256gb. this is my first time using ssd on a computer its great so far.

Samsung 850 pro all the way, great drive.
