As for the matter - sounds like a hipster idea. For one - I do firmly believe that it could take even more water, it definitely would take at least few seconds more shower time (you "think about" it, "prepare" etc, you slow down with soaping yourself during those moments and so on).
And that those few seconds takes more water than toilet flush (ps: do not flush fully when possible, all toilets should have "limited" flush for the number 1 and full flush for number 2).
