Have any of you ever thought about what will happen when 13% of the nation's food production suddenly disappears?

Just to let you know, turning ocean water into clean water (desalination) actually leaves behind a waste product that is highly toxic which will ruin the land they store it on.

A much better alternative is recycling sewage water into clean water, which is actually much cheaper and the product produced is cleaner than tap water due to the stringent nature of processing. This movement just needs support as most people are against the thought of drinking what was once in your toilet.

When the State shuts down car washing outlets in Los Angeles, THEN we'll have to start worrying.

Until then, it's all hype. Big Brother is just slowly getting us all used to the idea that water is scarce so bottling companies can start jacking up the price of water.

In 100 years from now we will all be paying $ 10 for a bottle of water.

The Planet has enough water for all of us, but when we move away from oil, and all of us are driving electric cars in about 100 years, WATER will be the new oil.

To keep people in line and working, the government always must control the one item that is needed to function. It's oil now, tomorrow it will be water.

It's not that cheap, but for regular use numbers can work out. Right now about 40-50% of the water used in Israel for example is result of desalination process.

We shouldn't be farming in places that can't sustain the crops from mostly natural rainfall. It's not even just crops, in the middle of West Texas I saw miles and miles of shrimp and crawdad farms where they build up berms and flood the area with water to farm them.

I also saw miles and miles of dried up farm land with no water to irrigate it, because all the local water sources were dried up and I'm sure there is a lot more to come of that.. (saw countless rivers and lakes that show on Google maps that were bones dry)

Granted we have to farm but we should be doing it where there isn't a need to irrigate constantly due to the area not being fit to grow crops.

Not many places can one grow crops without irrigation...I think. Dry land farming is very unpredictable at best and is definitely not as productive as irrigated crops. At worst it is a money losing proposition.
