"A horrifying video has emerged showing St. Petersburg police forcing a man out of his car before pouncing on him, leaving him hospitalized with several injuries, all because the cop claims he was in fear for his life.

At least that what he says in his report, where he wrote the following:

"I exited my marked patrol cruiser and walked towards the vehicle and I noticed the driver staring at me with a blank stare as he continued revving the engine louder and louder. I thought by his actions the subject was going to attempt to hit me with his car."

The video, however, shows it was Curtis Shannon, a young man from Florida who should have been in fear for his life during the arrest.

It also shows that he remained professional as he tried to hand the cop his license and registration through a small opening after the cop pulled him over for what he claimed was erratic driving.

But if anything was erratic, it the was behavior of the cop, which unfortunately, Shannon refuses to identify out of what he says is "respect."

The cop deserves no respect because he was downright criminal. A thug with a badge. A proud member of the Blue Mafia."

Having said that...I have left the window down that far to communicate with a police officer and he had zero problem with it. It wasn't to annoy him, I was young and flustered about being pulled over, it didn't even cross my mind about the window opening.

American cops seem to be pretty quick to jump from verbal communication to physical force...

Yep, they're quick because all they need to say is you weren't cooperating or I was afraid and they get rubber stamped as heroes and barely questioned. We need FAR more video capturing of encounters. 100% of them need to be captured and streamed live for remote storage so they can't be lost or corrupt.

Cops are not angels and they need to get rid of the bad ones as soon as possible because they are poisoning the well, but let's try keeping things in perspective. Sounds like the cop was being a jerk from that video, he asked for licence/registration, but just didn't like the fact the window was only open slightly, so felt the driver was 'disrespecting' him or whatever the fuck went through his i-am-god mind. It's only at that point he asks the driver to get out, and you can see he was antagonised by that point.

Ah good old St.pete police as one who has grown up living on the south site of St.Pete i will say these guys are major fuck up. I actually seen the shooting in 1996 that caused the riots in St.pete. This cop got away with murder.




These guys do not discriminate white or black. I have been pulled out of my vehicle numerous times over the years just for driving home. White guy in a black neighborhood equals a drug buyer. These guys ripped my trucks apart numerous times looking for drugs and weapons. Last time they pulled me over and wanted to search my vehicle told them no. Make a long story short i ended up going to jail on a obstruction charge.

I could go on about how frigging green team which is st.pete swat raided my house which was the wrong house or i could get into how i was was at work and got fucking pounced on by 10 cops. There was a car jacking and guy killed woman. I fit the description. Lucky for me they caught him in her car a few days later.

I could also go on and tell the story had i did there fucking job and solved 3 bank robbery's. Yet they made me wear a wire to get the guy on tape or the would have my probation violated.

I worked 3 jobs for 2 1/2 years and got the hell out of there in 1999 and moved to the suburbs of pasco county. Any time i have any contact with officers now it yes sir no sir.

With all the issues i have with police over the years i still have no issues with them. There are good and bad just like everything else and you need them.

Some police are fuck up? I been pulled over many times for no fucking reason, matter fact the last 5 times I didn't get a ticket. One time this bitch LAPD pulled me over to train another officer. I stop using my Escalade for this reason. Also I notice when I have my nerdy glasses on no problem.

The cop most likely followed him for some time before putting his lights on, and when he did put his lights on the guy fails to stop and continues to drive to his apartment complex. No matter how you spin it, this is traffic stop - You do not continue on your way to destination when the police are pulling you over.

This is called felony evading.

Then he refuses to roll down his window, refuses to hand over his ID and insurance, and then refuses to get out of his car. At that point, you've committed a felony, and police are going to bust out your window and drag you out - no exceptions.

Maybe you were driving just a little bit too fast or crossed the white line once - stuff we do daily - giving the officer just an excuse to pull you over. They see you acting suspicious they keep digging until they find out what it is. If you've done nothing wrong they send you on your way.

I have a friend who gets pulled over a lot. He says he doesn't know why but it's obvious when you drive with him - he speeds, tailgates, and generally speaking drives like an ass. Yet he has no clue why he gets pulled over so much.

When police turn on their lights to pull you over, you don't have to pull over. You can just drive on to your destination. (You also do not have to yield to emergency vehicles either!) And when police ask for your ID or registration or insurance, it's perfectly acceptable to tell them no. And when police tell you to step outside of your vehicle, you can tell them no.

See how far that gets you the next time you are pulled over.

What most off the world doesn't take into consideration is that this is a nation full of lunatics with guns, a nation full of gang members and machine guns in the car. Most Americans , more than Western Europeans expect people to follow the law, respect the rules and expect others not to break the rules and so on. Most people do not see the individual as a victim because everyone understands that you comply with the police officer. You do not talk back. You do not argue. You do not run etc. you simply say "yes sir", "no sir" and things end well for all. In any part of the USA, when you are a dick to a cop, your life will take a turn for the worst real quick.

It's important to understand that in the USA, it is always the exact same type of dickhead that "has problems" with the "unfair" police. 99.9% of people just say yes sir, no sir and thank you sir and continue on their day without issue. It's also important to more that the same dickhead that has all these problemswith police is NEVER the guy who says "yeah, I was wrong to be acting as I was" but rather they are always the victim in everything.
