Where I live you have two options. Cable internet which forever only went to 30mbps and the phone company that offered up to 60mbps.

About 6 months ago the cable company increased to a max of 100mbps. Now the phone company is promising 1gbps by early next year.

I get over 50Mb/s downstream and normally over 6Mb/s upstream.

Depends on what you're paying for.

Up until last year or so, I was paying £17.99 a month, and only getting 1mb download speed !

Then 'BT Infinity Plus' became available and I switched. It costs me just £4.00 more and I get about 60/65Mbs...

I have TWC and a regular cable speed which is 10mbps. Does it even make that much difference while doing normal things on the web?

In theory I have 100Mbps from Time Warner. It rarely delivers, but it is still faster than alternatives I've tried.
