At the same time, millions of Americans are putting it in their mouths every day, by way of a top-selling toothpaste that uses the antibacterial chemical to head off gum disease -- Colgate-Palmolive Co.?s Total.

Total is safe, Colgate says, citing the rigorous Food and Drug Administration process that led to the toothpaste?s 1997 approval as an over-the-counter drug. I never understand how market leading companies like Colgate can do such a thing as introduce something which isn't 1000% proven and safe. Why take a risk when you already have a massive market leading position?

Tom's does not test on animals, how do we really know whether Tom's causes cancer cell growth or disruptive development in the animals.

teeth can be easily cleaned with taking a sip (do not swallow - you will kill your stomach flora) and brushing peroxide water - cheapest and best solution, peroxide water kills all germs in the mouth, just watch to not swallow it, no toothpaste can come close to it's effectivenes.
