What kind of computer speakers do you have?

I use to have this ridiculous Klipsch 5 speaker system with a sub. That died on me and got two Klipsch speakers and a sub. Well, the right speaker just went out and I'm tired of this bullshit. Is Bose even worth the money?

I have Bose speakers. I paid all of $99 for them. I had another system with a sub, but it was complete overkill. I like to rock out while I work as much as the next guy, but I don't need to rattle the windows and piss off the neighbors.

I have my computer connected to my stereo (Denon avr-3802 receiver, 2x 300watt cerwin vega ls12's, 2x 100 watt cerwin vega speakers - rear speakers. I forget the model, 1x 150 watt JBL center speaker and 1x 200watt cerwin vega sub) connected from my creative sound blaster ZX with a TOSLINK (optical) cable. Overkill? yes, but fun. lol

No speakers any more, Audeze LCD-X phones instead.

I used to have the B&W MM-1 but they burned out and I never bothered to take the new pair they sent me out of the box.

Bose is shit by the way, you can do much better for less.

Usually just use my Bose headphones when working.
On my main computer I have a soundbar and sub that are meant for use with a tv. It sounds great and fits nicely over my monitors.

These are mine

Harman Kardon SoundSticks II

Made the pick since I listen to most of my music when online.

Guess I own them since 2005 or so, tough to match when it comes to full and crisp sound.

The prices you are posting for speakers are really high. I get a lot of my gear through group audiophile buys like at Massdrop.com

I have a full 7.2 setup. Klipsch reference series all around, onkyo 808 receiver, velodyne 15" subwoofer, 6 aura bass shaker pros in my seats. It used to double as my theater room but now it's just my office/gaming room. Made the basement into my dedicated theater room.

Quit buying "pc" speakers or any of those other cube systems like that.

Receiver + 2 Klipsch RB-61 bookshelves + a proper klipsch or paradigm sub = total everlasting musical bliss.

Cube systems and theater-in-a-box systems (including kilpsch) have low life expectancies... only good for gramma's occasional benny hill DVD

is that dual 15" sub? or one sub channel in the shakers and other into the sub? stereo sub? or mono setup?

This sounds very interesting. Which series of reference did you get? I had the 6's in back, dual 8s in front.. sex is what it was, pure musical sex. Adding shakers almost sounds like it would be too much

One channel to single sub and one channel to the shakers. I have a separate ATI 1502 amp driving the shakers. Sometimes you dont want it on so i can just go up and flip the amp off. Fronts are the 8 inch (rf82 is the model i think)and surround backs are also the same 8 inch. I have their smaller bipole surround speakers for side surrounds as that is all i could fit. I have some pictures ill post later when im not on my phone.

If you are looking for 2.0, and can get them in your area, M-Audio makes some really nice monitors...

I have the AV-40s and have really enjoyed them.

This pic is a bit outdated. My video game hord has increased quite a bit since then. I said my receiver was an Onkyo 808, the correct model # is 818. I used to have an 809 but the HDMI board failed. Also had a 609 in another room that failed due to the same issue. Supposedly the newer models have fixed the problem. At least I hope so, I don't want to have to set all this shit up again.

If I was going to do it again I would go for something like the Audioengine A5+ as you get more of a room filling sound and bang for your buck. You can get these for $299 which is nearly cost on massdrop.com.

M-Audio BX5a - these are studio monitors, so the sound is great.
Also have the matching M-Audio SBX10 enclosed subwoofer.

I'll sell you mine.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed.
With the network receiver there really is no need for them either for playing music or watching movies.

Fronts are the 8 inch (rf82 is the model i think)and surround backs are also the same 8 inch. I have their smaller bipole surround speakers for side surrounds as that is all i could fit. I have some pictures ill post later when im not on my phone.
Interesting. Ok, so it's in stereo then. Wouldn't you then effectively lose any sub frequencies in the other channel when the shakers are off?

Good choice on your fronts. I love those rf82s.. That setup must sound bawls-to-the-wall awesome. I miss my big system..

Also had a 609 in another room that failed due to the same issue. Supposedly the newer models have fixed the problem. At least I hope so, I don't want to have to set all this shit up again.

This is beautiful man! Very nice setup! Have you looked at a Pioneer Elite for the amp? I'm partial to their high wattage and high current design. Plus, I just loved their MCAAC setup and fine tuning of the EQ for each source, channel and speaker. Not all are created equal though, so to rival the Onkyos and HK's, look at higher tag Pioneer Elites (SC-87 and SC-89).

How do you get any work done having that nice setup there, teasing you, begging for your attention haha

If you want some good sound, get these.. Been running this setup for about a year, easily the best speakers I've heard at this price point.

I used to swear by Pioneer but the last one I bought I was not that happy with. Seemed to have major problems with the network related stuff, and they released an app for it that was completely useless on android. They basically stopped supporting it once the next years model came out. Compared with my denon and onkyo, which are both several years old and still receiving the odd firmware updates. I know the amps in the pioneer are bulletproof though and it sounds great. I think my current pioneer is a 1326k, which is a special Canadian only equivalent of what they sell as the elite vsx-53 in the u.s.It is several years old too so im sure they've probably improved their network and app stuff by now. I was just pissed I had to pay for a third party app to control it. I was using its zone 2 feature to run speakers out on my deck so I needed something that worked reliably using my phone when I was outside.

That Canadian equivalent was the same I had. Very little in terms of difference. I was not aware of the app support issue.. thanks for pointing that out, I'll be sure to check that if I ever get another one.
