if I'd be typical Russian or lets say - Chinese or Arab - yes. If'd come from country like US, Switzerland or others where authoritarian type of rules are not so popular (well, of course in theory ;-) ) - probably not..

If I would come from country where the King is most important person (like it was centuries ago) - also Yes ;-)

thats is the case in many countries - just look for example at Spain and its investing from 2000s and 1990s....look at Brazil and 2014 Mundial....

I bet that Putin and his friends made good chunk of money on Sochi, so he is not worried about it that much...Of course it would be better to spend it on education, health care and technologies...Not every country is that smart as Norway is - they dont want winter olympics as it will be "too costly" for them

Yet, from how he behave in international issues field and how he tries to "solve" international problems I may say about him that he is a smart ass and wise guy...actually, THESE DAYS, he is kind of "peace lover",in spite of what the western media tell about him and in spite of his 1999-2000 chechen wars (and yes, bombs in buildings too) which made him popular and loved in Russia....
