if I'd be typical Russian or lets say - Chinese or Arab - yes. If'd come from country like US, Switzerland or others where authoritarian type of rules are not so popular (well, of course in theory ;-) ) - probably not..

I bet that Putin and his friends made good chunk of money on Sochi, so he is not worried about it that much...Of course it would be better to spend it on education, health care and technologies...Not every country is that smart as Norway is - they dont want winter olympics as it will be "too costly" for them

russians are only 60% of russian federation. as far as i'm aware they aren't living that good with Putin in power as some Caucasian/muslim nations.
russians are constantly decreasing in number, while muslim nations are growing

i guess Putin is contradictive person in Russian history. many say he has mined huge living buildings to get his presidency and the latest elections of russian president participated by Putin and Medvedev were falsified. he gets huge support of russians while the crysis in Ukraine

but again much more time is required to evaluate what or who Putin really is
